lol my car was slow too >.<
which S15 were you in? O.o

Anyway, I need some advice from all the RE gurus... what can I do about the oil temp? O.o

The car can only last for 2 hot laps before the oil temp went sky rocket to 130+ degC and smoke start coming into the cabin xD

Any advice on what kind of modification the car would need? ;)

ryosuke,

Thanks for representing. Regarding your oil problem, that's bad.

Go to your mechanic and have the oil system checked.

Rotaries are great in that it will not seize like piston engines but they are very susceptible to "heat stroke". Do take care.

ryosuke,

you should have ask ah choy. The idea is that when the oil boils, it creates lots of pressure. You can ruin gaskets and cause un-wanted wear and tear due to the break-down of the oil.

Did he tell you why the oil went up?

Add an additional large oil cooler. 130+ deg C is too hot if you use mineral oil. You should change your engine oil immediately after the race. Have you changed your engine oil at every 3k kms?

lol I drove the RX-7 FC3S, the colourful one xD

No, Ah Hau (Ah Choy's mech) did not mention anything about it its just that I may need to add another oil cooler...

Just changed the engine oil before I went to the track.

What kind of engine oil would you guys suggest I use? On that day I used Shell TX100 20W-50 :P
Not sure whether that is good or not, its just I look up at the Haynes manual >.<

Agree with RERider and Ah Hau to add another cooler.

No idea about TX100, but Shell is good enough. Where did you get a 20W-50 for Shell? I usually find the 15W-40 Shell Helix.

I use Castrol 20W-50... buy from Carrefour :)

Yeah I just found it from my local spare part shop... 1st time also found the 20W-50 TX100 by luck I guess :p

But I saw at Ah Choy usually they fill up with Total oil.... is it better for rotary? :S

The brand does not matter. Just make sure the SAE rating is acceptable - someone once mentioned that both 15W-40 and 20W-50 are acceptable.

Ah Choy recommends Total Oil as his personal preference. I change oil regularly so I buy cheap cheap good good.

Oooo ok, yeah I look up at the Haynes Manual it also said that 15W-40 & 20W-50 is acceptable for our climate temperature....

But for me sometime I just changed the engine oil whenever I have some free time no matter whether the car has run 3000km or not :p

add another fc3s oil cooler ,
double row like ah choy car.

- use high performance engine oil like motul 300v / turbolite
- premix the petrol with 150:1 ratio with high quality 2t .
