I dont see any reason to use sealant.
If the surface is corroded then used sandpaper to make it as smooth as possible. Use a thin layer of grey gasket maker (i used Permatex).

yaya, i need something like that..didnt know it is call a gasket maker ...hahaProbably that was what he is asking for, the gasket maker.....
