Came back from Kurnia Sunway Yesterday. The person in charge of my vehicle said that my car can be restored back with the amount of RM25,000 , so that the vehicle will not be claimed as total loss.

Ok guys, here some question with rewards of teh o ais limau -

1.Issit worth it restore it back due to not all the parts are brand new ?

2.How much is market price for 2000 GTi ?

3.Will the title "theft recovered" car decrease the price ? Assuming it has been fully restored to original spec, can I still get the same market price ? Or just senyap senyap =P

4. I have some way to get it total loss by seeking friend in Kurnia, but will it worth it compare to fully restore it back ?

5. Any comments are welcome bro =)

TermiziYeoh. I just got my 2001 for 35k, a 2000 model would be in the low 30s. Used car dealers would take it for way below 30k. It is not as important to know a person in kurnia, rather an adjustor or someone in proton who will do your restoration. If it's not damaged, I have no doubt the could replace every part, afterall, they are common. You could work in some R3 parts too, you have to judge if it'll ever still be the same to you.

If they totaled it, it also depends on how much they are willing to pay you for it. If the amount is 25k, then you might as well have them fix it and sell it even for 2k more, u r still the winner.

You need to work it out with the adjustor, you should have new parts quoted. Where are u going to find second hand GTi stuff? Unless it's stolen from another one of your friend's cars HAHAHAHA

Meaning of knowing person in kurnia would be Im getting almost fully amount insured if it is claimed as total loss. I insured 30k and if total loss it I might be getting around 28-29k.

Im thinking of switching to another ride - Main point.

wud it be possible if ur car be restored at Proton?.... never trust those panel workshop from the insurance side. happens to one of my frens, after restored even the front bumper is local fibre glass.... the paint also sucks, cat mati after 6 months???? etcetera etcetera

my advice, ask them to send ur car to proton,get price quot, then restore...

Yeah malique is correct... panel workshops will fix it up for you with curi tulang parts (experienced in with an accident of my mom's car... the parts replaced all refurbished and the paint not good one, a few things also koyak'ed very quickly), Proton will charge a bomb for proper restoration so it really depends on how your insurance handles it...

If you can get it properly restored you could definately sell it for more than 30k though, but more effort, time and uncertainty involved la. If they dont do a proper restoration job you may end up having to sell it cheap and wait for nothing also.

I would suggest that you claim total lost.. since you said you wanna change a new car..the point is... even you have your car restore.. your mind will always thinking that this car is stolen before, this thought will be haunting your mind always. Even like my car been hit on the back, it still haunt me till now. sometimes you will have no mood....... 'my car no more virgin' belakang mari.......

OK confirmed -

Car will be restored back to tip top condition. I'll get the car restored until I satisfy I wont sign the insurance company-to-pay-workshop form. After restore to the condition I satisfy baru I decide what to do whether keep it or anything la.

Btw, your car isnt virgin once u mod la I think hahahaha. Thanks to all members for their humble opinion. Anyway, how many members we have in here ? Lost count oledy. While some of the sifus have change ride .....
