I Have a 4G93T 1.8 GDI in Lancer and the engine is pinking some times, I can only get 96 octane fuel, can I retard the timing by moving the crank angle sensor on the exhaust cam, or is there some other way.

Drexchan has modified the crank sensor angle bracket without issues. Mine is a modified crank pulley which allows me to adjust a couple of degrees.

Pinging/knocking is a sign of pre-detonation, an does not have any thing to do with changing your engine oil

Retard the timing at the distributor. Very very slight. Do it in small increments and test and retest it. Do not go a lot at once. When i say little, probably 0.5-1 mm per move.
