Hi there all,

My father owns a 1980 Alfa Romeo Giulietta 2.0 :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfa_Romeo_Giulietta_(nuova)

Right now the car has been restored mildly but major works such as suspension, engine, steering and especially the brakes are neglected.

He plans to do a major restoration/ overhauling of this car sometime soon. The main things that he wants to restore/change include the engine, suspension, gearbox, and brakes.

My questions are therefore:

1) What kind of engine would be suitable if an engine transplant is done? Could a Mivec engine be used?

2) Say an engine transplant is done; does it also mean that a different transmission/gearbox is also used?

3) Any recommendations on what suspension brands are good for this car?

4) Are there any good/ well-known shops that are known to restore these sort of cars?

and finally

5) Some work needs to be done for the interior of the car. Any recommendations on which shops are good?

Note: The car is located in Cheras, so any information on shops located nearby would be of great help.

Guess that's all I want to ask right now. Would really appreciate any information/ discussion on this matter.

Thanks to all in advance.

There is a 2-shoplot upholstery shop at Puchong. It's a stone throw away from TESCO Puchong. The work quality is very good. Reasonable priced. I don't remember the name of the shop, but you can ask around for the shop.

This is my boss's car. The paint was in terrible condition upon delivery. Defects were all over and deep. Pictures shall talk.

Full of swirls and watermark etching. Generous amount of random deep scratches too.
