vtec controller like spoon vc3e, vafc, emanage.
u cannot use shift light to activate ur vtec point..

or u can use manual activation by using switch which is directly send current to the vtec solenoid... hehe..

u might want to re-consider the idea of changing the vtec activation point. the point were meant for the maps designed in the ecu. by simply moving it earlier or later with incorrent fueling and ignition may create power loss.

can use any other method to set the activation point? eg:shift light

Agree with J101.

If you engage too early, the car will jerk a bit during switchover, as not enough volume passing true for the vtec duration.

if you engage it too late, then you will see a flat spot in torque.

Some of the VTEC controllers use knobs.

Me, I'm on hondata now, so no need for such things.

exactomundo

if set earlier, the VTEC cant sustain all the way to redline, unless u have a set of cams

if too early, like shiro-san said, u'll get a dip in torque, unless ur running a chipped ECU

wah, u got Hondata? Fawrking sweet man.

Yeah.. got hondata messed with it for the past two months already..

my engine is surprisingly resistant to knocking even when I'm running high advance numbers.. (O_o)

As for vtec point, better I show than say. I set it suprisingly close to stock, at 5400 rpm.

I'll have to dig up my old datalogs. I'll post it sometime tommorow.

one has the example of a flat spot, and the other of putting vtec too early.

Oh, and I can't seem to find the older logs of my tests with early vtec points.
