Honda is definitely one of the automotive giants considered not only in Japan, but on a global scale as well. With its roots long attached with motorsports, appearing in Japan’s greatest touring car championship is a must. And with that, five racing teams will be representing Honda in the upcoming Super GT happening at Sepang International Circuit this weekend, which is also the only venue that is holding the race outside Japan.

The five teams; Autobacs Racing Team Aguri, Weider Honda Racing, Keihin Real Racing, Nakajima Racing and Team Kunimitsu, will be participating the race in the HSV-010 GT which is in the GT500 class. Besides of facing each other, they will also be going head-to-head with other teams on different machines like Lexus’ SC430 and Nissan’s GT-R.

As the NSX’s successor in the Super GT series, the HSV-010 GT was designed to surpass the predecessor’s performance, with engineers being briefed to design it as an easy-to-handle performance racer. The HSV houses a 3.4l liquid-cooled V8 with the output of around 500horsepower, sending it all to the rear tires.
“Through the Super GT race, all five teams will continue to challenge themselves in both speed and mind. It is also the symbol of Honda’s Challenging Spirit whereby every race is an opportunity for Honda to push the limits of racing technology”, said the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Honda Malaysia, Mr. Yoichiro Ueno at the Honda Super GT party in Kuala Lumpur recently.
