cut the story short... i was annoyed driving around 50kph on 5th gear (on 'drive' mode).
so i've been playing with the shift map.. still trying the sweet spot though
i'm wondering anyone else played / playing with it?

and second thing; how much does cost to make custom aluminium intercooler piping (stock tmic) over there?

I can only answer about the intercooler piping. Custom will cost you around RM500 at most. Some got it cheaper, depending on the workmanship. Mine is mendral bent, almost seamless and no welding points. I got it used tho. :)

i was quoted twice the price you've got. but i guess for 200$ difference it isn't worth for the hassle to get one from KL. thanks :)

I can check out for you tomorrow when I go to Ah Wah's place. I'll let you know if it's worth getting it here.

i might be wrong.. probably around 60kph on 5th... on stock, if i read correctly it will only shift down to 4th below 57kph.

i've increased the kph on shift ups and shift downs, i.e.: it will shift up to 5th above 84kph, shift down to 4th below 68kph.

reason for this is... running 60kph on 5th is not fun... it's too low on rpm.. clutch slips and too slow to reach 2000-2500rpm where it starts to become alive..
increasing the kph shift ups/ downs will get me closer to 2000-2500kph, which will make it more responsive

what do you mean by 'faster'? do you mind sharing which object relates in ecu to that? 'shift pressure'? 'shift time'? 'shift condition'?

I always hated when the gearbox becomes 'lazy'. So I use manual frequently. Yr right about shifting up even at low speed.

Shift time can be reduced but taxing on the gearbox. It can be fiddle thru the ECU setting. I've sat on one before at Ah Wah's place, yes it was almost like DSG.

someone asked me on private on how did i do it/ which tables are used, i thought i just share it here so anyone else can have the info if needed :)

the shift map i use are
shift map 1-1 to 8-1
1-1 shift up from 1st to 2nd
2-1 2nd to 3rd
3-1 3rd to 4th
4-1 4th to 5th
5-1 shift down from 2nd to 1st
6-1 3rd to 2nd
7-1 4th to 3rd
8-1 5th to 4th

i left alone map 1-1 and 5-1 to default, and for the rest of the maps I increased them but only for low load.

the speed stated (second column) is based on standard evo gearbox (final drive 4.59) and as you might've known ours is 3.33.

use this scaling if you want to avoid the hassle to convert between 3.33 and 4.59 ratio:
<scaling name="VehicleSpeed3.33" units="km/h" toexpr="x*4.59/3.33" frexpr="x/4.59*3.33" format="%.0f" min="0" max="255" inc="1" storagetype="uint8" endian="big"/>

Yeah . I'm using ecuflash now . And using FQ 300 timing . Custom fuel map . Just I don't dare to set up my gear box . Had some support from greym sometime ago with an .xml file . Very big file . Bout 50+ kb
Actually I only need your shift map only . Cos different mod , different setup ... So can't use your a/f map and timing .
