have you tried ACE? there could be other similar cleaners for that purpose

Hi Tom,
I've tried in Sunway outlet but dont have. They only have Carb / TB cleaner which i dont compatible with this extremely fragile sensor. Based on BMW forums, it seems there are plp using electronic board cleaner to clean it but i dont feel comfrt with that idea

I have been using non residue brake cleaner for my MAF for years now....

I'm also looking for this CRC cleaner and one electronic shop is helping me to check for the availability and price for me. will let you know once i got their reply.

CRC Contact cleaner (blue can) is another option (just like CRC MAF sensor cleaner it doesnt leave residue)

most electronic shops carries it.

koolspyda.. correct and they do have the CRC contact cleaner but that would be my plan B if thay can't get the CRC MAF cleaner.

there is this bro who pm me said he can get it for us. 0123682555 chong

CRC Contact cleaner should work. I've seen a lot of sensors being cleaned this way at my mech shop. But if there is a specified one of course even better!

Sorry, out of topic. Just wondering if the carburetor/throttle cleaner will work for MAF sensor..?

i do thought of it but as i read more, the carb cleaner doesnt seems to say anything can be clean on sensor. so i dont feel safe also

in some spray ie carb spray; residue (a little greasy is requried/left behind when there is moving parts)

contact cleaner as the name suggest is used for sensors / electronic boards / diodes.

you can purchase the CRC MAf sensor cleaner (red can) as attached image & later compare with the CRC contact cleaner (blue). just spray a little on your hand. it should leave no residue & it will quickly evaporate (alcohol/methanol base i think).

because can is pressurized, hence when directed to the sensor (dont touch but 4"-6" away), it blows off dirts or contaminants that may have built over a period of time. more so with cars with open pods filters. pressurized cans do have a plastic hose.

though maf sensors will also eventually comes with a product shelf life. esp for tuners readings may deteriorate after some years (even with care cleaning). these were debated in some forums before.

if one cant afford to change maf sensors every 6 months (instead use contact/maf sensor cleaner), then change a new one 3-6years later.

u shld ask how much is the sensor. hehehehe

So, u are hinting that the sensor clear will cost a bulk..?

Hmm... I'd say it's something subjective. Just like turbo. Got problem with turbo, Overhauling a TD04HL cost RM700-RM800. A second hand TD04HL will only cost RM500-RM600.

But buying a used TD04HL may have the same problem also cause it's used and we don't know how it's being used.
