Dude.. I rarely disagree with you. But this is the one time I will!

I don't need to go get myself arrested in some political ploy of a protest which Barang Naik is so hell bent on stopping to prove my "manliness". As long as the state of emergency ordinance is not lifted, I have a family to feed and a life to live so I will show them my balls when it comes to voting.
Izso, This is not a 'manliness' contest; You mentioned that you have a family, i assume that you have children - this is about the country & system that your children will inherit from you. At the moment we are living in a Facist 'Police state' & we are trying to nudge it abit towards democracy.

Like I said before - without implementing a level playing ground, you cannot show them anything during election, most you can deprive them the majority but they still hold the purse strings, mass media, federal courts, civil services ect. and they will continue to milk petronas and put their cousin as Chairman of GLCs and continue to sign IPP/ Highway/ water concenssionaire to their mistresses AND continue life support for Proton and AP kings.

Infact many of our fellow rakyats have awoken to this but even with 4+% of votes, the opposition only manage to get < 1/3 of the seats and basically no federal funds or legislation power.

BTW I oso have 2 young children

I read all the comments with interest, but I have to say I'm pretty much influenced by Singapore/China.

You cannot get a clean Singapore without the fines. Singapore is cleaner than any European city I've ever been. You cannot evict squatters in China without the strong-armed enforcement. Now Shanghai is skyscraper heaven.

That's how to get things work in Asia. Otherwise cannot get anything done.

Gerrymandering happens in the Singapore and even US. If Singapore has a balanced and just two-party Parliament, I doubt it can get anywhere near to the success it has achieved now. Singaporeans will waste time fighting each other. If China has a balanced and just two-party system, one billion Asians will be an uncontrollable giant mass of individual rights and wants and needs for the world to face up to. That's exactly what Europe and the US are now.

The biggest democracy in the world is... India. So much potential, so much yet to be achieved.

Don't get me wrong, if rallying can give Malaysia a Singapore/China-style enforcement, count me in. But with a population makeup so diverse and so varied like Malaysia, I learn to accept that this would not become a reality. Globalisation made the world smaller now, opportunities can be found here, in Canada, Australia, NZ, China.

Do something or Do Nothing,
Let them march and it'll be over by noon. No harm done

When they close down KL streets for festivals no one screams lost of business...menyusahkan...etc2..

Its the job of the police to protect the protesters and give them a safe route, not shooting them with tear gas and arresting them. Of course there will be havoc if you provoke them.

Its the police job to make sure that the different organizers don't "collide" and give each organizer their right to protest & not take sides....either Bersih, Perkasa or Umno.

A least these people are standing up for what they believe & not just complaining..

Actions speaks louder than words..

Nobody is perfect, no political party is perfect...we are all human, political parties are made of humans.

If all are the same, why bother to vote then?, don't need election,parliment,ADUN.....just appoint BN till end of time...

We need to change to make change, let someone else try it for once, if they dont perform just KICK them out, and change again. Make them know its the PEOPLE that are the BOSS. If it take 10 changes in gov. to make a significant change then so be it. Better than just taking the same SH*T every time.

BERSIH is about "ELECTORAL REFORM". period. Dont listen to any of the bullsh*t from politicians from either side.
No matter who is in the gov. , the agenda will always be about "free & fair elections"

DO SOMETHING, OR ELSE JUST SHUT UP AND STOP COMPLAINING:biggrin:

The concern is if there is chaos and violence during the rally, which is very possibly, evoked by thugs clothed in Bersih T-shirts who you know where they come from, so that renders excuse for violent crackdown on the rally. Very dangerous indeed, the Bersih's opponents would use any means to shut it down.

The best way to rally is to do it at the Stadium. Its gonna be a closed session and the police will only be outside guarding the area just like one in Shah Alam in 2008. Then later they can sent a few reps to the ISTANA to hand out the memo. There is no need to march to ISTANA.

should put 1 more choice

"i don't give a dem about politic"
I really hope you don't mean that. Politics is about the way you choose your way of life, whichever government that we choose is going to effect our everyday life. So whether you like it or not u still have to live with it. So do yourself a favor and choose for a better life. Its fine whichever side you are going to vote, but u have to choose something rather then doing nothing. Everything we do now will be for the future (you, me and our kids to come).

I'll march on that day and i'm not doing because of any political parties, i'll march for a better malaysia.

I sincerely hope whoever join the march will behave calmly and peacefully, and not against the law. Hopefully, there will be NO riot, NO damage to public property, and NO physical injury to anybody (does not matter whether you are policeman, FRU, marcher, penyokong BN, penyokong PR, and public who happened to be there).

Peace and Love :rock::rock::rock:

Tell that to the police. I can guarantee you a ridiculous amount of traffic jams and useless road blocks that do nothing other than congest traffic. Like the last time.. gawd I hate these road blocks. Unecessary traffic jams all over KL all because they are overzealous.

Arrest the racist bigot "I.A" first and charge him for sedition and throw him in jail, THEN only perhaps some tension might be relieved. Otherwise all we ever see is useless things like Megatower la, hike in prices la, JV with international criminals who have no respect for human rights la... etc.

IGP says cops to arrest those with pro-Bersih ‘shoes, cars, buses’

The royal families had better not be wearing anything yellow too or risk being manhandled by PRDM.
Tourist and foreigner ought to be screened for yellow undergarment as well.
Textile shops with yellow material must be summoned and the evidences confiscated, factories producing yellow stuffs will have their licenses retracted.
Digi will be sued for their yellow mascot, sponge-bob would be blacklisted and prevented from entering this country........WHAT A JOKE!!!

from the responses and the votes, it is even more important that people participate. WHY?

because the Rakyat are the real bosses. all this scare tactics, political messages and other bullshit things that are going on is not important. the important thing is are you willing to fight for a better future for your own children?

imagine that 10 to 15 years from now, your teenage child asks you: "daddy, what did you do during Bersih rally?"

will you tell your child that his/her future was not worth a few hours of your time to walk for electoral reforms?

will you tell your child that all the teenage police shootings were wrong but you choose to sit at home and watch tv?

will you tell your child that it is ok for the govt to limit the number of scholarships while the PM and DPM can spend RM48 million on their homes in 5 years?

what are you going to say? Malaysians who are here, like Raja Petra says, pandai cakap, pandai complain but do nothing about it.

everyone is so happy to be keyboard warriors to taruh the govt on fuel subsidies, toll, AP, proton, etc, but no one is willing to step up and be counted.

so sad...

Hisham outlaws Bersih 2.0
So now Bersih 2.0 was outlawed and declared illegal officially. What would happen if the government become paranoid, treating Bersih as violent terrorists, declaring state of emergency and suspend the parliament?

AFAIK If that day comes, you'll see lotsa army and they'll take over the security. They will be under the instruction/command of Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di Pertuan Agong. The Nation comes under Martial Law. Police is no longer holding the Law, curfew will be implemented and lots more.

So there wont be any hangouts, mamak store, Discos or karoks etc

If martial law takes place,

1. The world will laugh at Malaysia (read umno/bn)
2. FDI will be affected directly and pulling out in droves.
3. Military men too fat to even chase ducks.

I dont think it will happen.

This just in.

On 7th and 8th July, there is going to be MAJOR ROADBLOCK in and around Kuala Lumpur. It is advisable to take LRT or MC or EL on that day to avoid the massive traffic jam that going to happen.

On the 9th July, Kuala Lumpur will be on complete LOCKDOWN meaning there will be no traffic going in or out and will be continue to 10th depend on situation.

Hooray to the stupid enforcement morons for making KL the largest carpark in the world.
