Dear All

I'm a little bit new in the automobile stuff and would like to know
about the absorber type. What is the different between Short stroke and Long stroke setup? What is advantage and disadvantages for both setup?
This setup can be used for all car height setting??

I want my car height as follow:
2 finger fits in between tyre and fender- front
2 1/2 finger fits in between tyre and fender-rear.
* This height considered lowered or not?

Lastly what i need is stability during cornering.I dont mind a bit hard/shaking
on straight or uneven road but the most important is car stability at all condition....So which type of setup do i need to use?? short or long??

That all and thanks for your opinion...

long stroke:
- usually an OEM replacement shocks
- mostly for comfort based
- maintain ur car height
- softer than short stroke shocks

short stroke:
- usually to match aftermarket lowered springs
- mostly for performance
- lower ur car a little (max 1finger only)
- stiffer than long stroke shocks

a car standard height depends on the manufacturer's spec... for example, wira SE are already lowered at factory standard (about 2 fingers).... while cars like iswara has 6 to 7 fingers gap....

what's the height of ur car now??... if u want optimum height, go for adjustable coilovers... solves ur headache or getting too low or not low enough...

*btw, if u want to lower ur car, look into changing lowered springs... shocks has jz 1 height and usually not adjustable (unless u buy those semi-adjustable)*

change shock usually wont let u lowered too much...height is mostly depend on the spring in most the case when the 2 shock are same length...only diff is hard / soft..but even the hardest shock in the market will not really maintain ur car height too high...because the car weight

SkyWalker,

I'm looking for custom hi-low adj and try to understand the term long and short stroke. Someone offer me this XXX custom made adjustable.
This custom made absorber can be set with our requirement.
So base on your explaination , i think what setup i need is the short stroke one??.I'm more to performance than comfort for my car because normally i'm driving alone.....

Can long stroke setup be like short stroke?? i mean very stiff and stable..
changing thicker oil perhaps???

Hi guys. I'm having this problem with my engine for quite some time and I still can't resolve it. I'm currently running a standard Mitsubishi RvR 4G63T engine in my wira and the problem is the engine often dies off when coming to a stop while running with the AC on. Without on AC will dies off also but not that frequent. Recently just replaced stepper motor but still the same. Anyone faced this problem before?
