The spectacular Round 2 of the Time To Attack: Sepang, organised as part of our celebration of 10 years of service to the Malaysian automotive community lived up to everything that we hoped it would be; dry weather, lots of happenings and of course, a great turnout from all you. If you haven't been following, the inaugural Round 1 that was held back in May at the same location, was a wet race against the clock. This time however, things were much different.

The larger number of time attackers this time numbering at a cool 106 cars, were mainly categorized into the street car, supercar and race car categories with each being further classified according to his or her car's drivetrain layout, engine type, as well as the extent of modification done to the car. With this being the basis of equal competition, each attacker was given their allocated laps to prove their worth. However, none of the times posted in Round 2 matched the magical number from Round 1.

In the previous round, Farriz Fauzy posted a time of 2:30.421 in his Nissan GTR R35, in the damp! That time however was untouched this time round even with the typical scorching Sepang weather with track temperatures reaching the high 40s - ideal for most tires to produce optimum grip.

The fastest time for Round 2 was set by Ee Yoong Cherng in his drift-tuned-time-attack crossover Nissan Silvia S13. The famous local drifter set a time of 2:31.813. The second fastest overall time that day was set by Gerald Tan in his Mitsubishi EVO 9 with a time of 2:32.279. Third fastest overall time was set by Jon Teo in his orange Mitsubishi Evo 6, he set a time of 2:32.664.

While we shift through the gigabytes of data and hundreds of time sheets, sorting out all your times and loading them up, here are some shots from that day, and also listed below are the three fastest times from some of the categories that we're done looking through. We'll be back with the complete listing, and more, much more coverage of Round 2 of Time To Attack: Sepang.

‘Time To Attack: Sepang’ is organized together with High Performance Challenge (HPC), Goodyear Malaysia, Lotus Cars and Motorsport Playground & proudly sponsored by Automotive Performance Development (APD), Revo, Exotic Mods, Pentagon, Links Racing, Kazama Autoworks and assisted by ContourHD for the coverage of the event.

it isn't all wet in round 1.. damp and wet is different. Also, cooler air means more power for most cars... this time so hot. Time attack in the morning say 8am dry track could produce even better time I suppose.

E-Lite:
Bro...Round 2 as in 2nd Event of TimeToAttack Sepang. Not exactly having 2 rounds of TimeAttack on the same day...

Round 1 was held few months ago if not mistaken and Best time was clocked by a R35. Since, the event was successful, they planned to have 2nd Event of Time Attack which is called "TimeToAttack Sepang Round 2"

Here is the link and a little bit of info about the TimeToAttack Sepang Round 1:
http://www.timetoattack.net/2010/07/05/hall-of-fame-%E2%80%93-fastest-lotus-nissan-honda-time-to-attack-sepang-round-1/

Correct me if I'm wrong...

Well, hopefully there will be Round 3 of Time Attack at Sepang by ZTH once again...:top:

Somehow I think somewhere Farriz Fauzy is sitting nicely smiling while watching drivers wondering why oh why they couldn't beat his time in the damp.

Is the skills and experience of the driver not the car alone that's why

Well, majority I guess are just there to have fun and test out their skills and the performance of their ride. :adore:

Or maybe a deeper understanding of the 'science' of racing.

A bit of know how can make a loooooooooot of difference in racing. I think Farriz Fauzy is still smiling

I'm a huge music buff. I play the piano and have an ear that'll catch the softest of sounds that'll irritate the hell out of me if I don't fix it. So naturally I'm extremely fussy about my sound systems. Pair that with my love for cars, I thought it would only be appropriate that I do a DIY on how to install an in-car-sound system.

Note - I have not forgotten about the brake DIY and coolant DIY, it'll come a...
