Planning to buy AUDI A4 B8 either 2010,2011&2012

Hey guys i need help!!!!

Planning to get and Audi A4 B8 model, came across a few models in mudah from 2010,2011 & 2012
need to know on general how is this car maintanance ?? as in reliablity of the gearbox and engine??

I heard some of the model has a lot of gb and engine problem....
Called a few 2nd dealer and they said engine & gb no problem (standard la want to sell their cars)

Spoke to a sales person from pre-owned audi glemnarie, he said get 2013 model and above. 2010 2011 & 2012 alot of problem.

Budget is below RM95k

I have a friend who owns a 2010/2011 model and the car eats engine oil like nobody's business, something like 0.5-1ltr every few weeks. It seems that this engine is typically consuming more engine oil but he said his one is more problem as it's too much.

Anyway why do you want to buy this car??

Seems is quite common issue to burn engine oil.....:hmmmm:

Yeah it was becoming too much and hence he downgraded the oil to just the cheapest mineral oil 20w50. Don't know if he has OH the car already or not now.

Can try Castrol Edge RS 10w-60......lol

He did try that one too and still same oil consumption. So rather than buying expensive oils, he just settled for the cheapest one to limit the cost damage temporarily.

Audi looks great but maintenance & reliability eeergghhhhh....few of my colleagues sold after 1-2 years driving A4 due to high maintenance....

Its common knowledge that these engines have defective piston rings, its a design fault. Many more issues with thermostat, water pump and other electronic gremlin awaits..if u have no other problems in life and wants some..go ahead buy an audi..

my neighbor has one similar model A4. When bought new, really sayang....everyday the car shiny.
Now, the car is parked at roadside, outside, with peeling paint.

Why I asked. The owner just geling-geleng kepala.....You fill in the blanks la....

Some see and great expensive car with status, some see as problem car, dare not touch......lol

But previously always wash car what. I wouldn't expect a car at this price tag to have paint deterioration that quickly after a short time of negligence.

Now with paint deterioration, it will further decrease the value of the car. Spent more than RM200k and get this kind of result...

I think was in 1998 financial crisis, Friend call want Audi or not, 1 years plus RM50k only. The story was owner want to sell, but used car offer RM25k only.....lol
