To some curious enthusiast I was a former Meguiar's supporter since late 2010(that's when I was into detailing). I have almost everything like NXT 2.0 liquid(blue bottle, bad product contains petroleum), Scratch X 2.0/Swirl X, Ultimate Quik Wax(black bottle), Deep Crystal Polish Step 2(red bottle), Deep Crystal Step 3 Carnauba Wax(red bottle), Cleaner Wax(red bottle), Ultimate Protectant(black bottle liquid, BAD product that contains petroleum), Quik Detailer(red bottle), Meguiar's Wash Mitt, Supreme Shine MF(a few pieces & damn $$$ @), their applicator foam pads(a few), Engine cleaner(black bottle spray), Engine Dressing(black bottle)...disappointed recalling all I spend. I just review a few and let you all know.

NXT Tech Wax 2.0(blue bottle liquid)-This piece of crap cost me RM128!! And I have to apply to the WHOLE car BEFORE removing the residue! I don't mind this but the durability is ridiculous! 1 week(covered parking) and a normal wash with pH neutral shampoo and I have a sad face. And the clean up of my foam pad is ridiculous too after application. I have to pre soak my foam pads in dish washing liquid and then wash my 3 MF because I don't want to risk scratching the paint wiping off residue.

Evidence here on durability Meguiars NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0

Ultimate Quik Wax(black spray bottle)-This piece of crap cost me RM58 per bottle of 450ML! Damn. Not even 1/2 liter(500 ML)! This acts as a wax booster and nothing more. Durability should be less than a week if no other protection underneath. Wasting my money!

After about Mid 2011, heard about Optimum No Rinse through ZTH and AW, bought a bottle to try from the detailien/optimum team member Seech. And then tried Optimum Power Clean/Alien Clean which is so nice to use and I can have more mileage for my product use. I can clean from dirty rims, engine bay, paint, leather, interior.......... THE WHOLE CAR in the proper dilution rate for the job. Meaning I can pour into another sprayer and put the correct amount of water to clean even delicate surfaces like leather! You can't do that with Meguiar's engine cleaner and I have to buy other crap from Meguiar's that also cost me more $$$.

Sometime I decided to SWITCH wax/sealant protection to something else so I called up Seech to purchase Optimum Car Wax/Alien Wax to try. After this... I got hooked! My permanent paint protection is Optimum Car wax/Alien Wax and I never turned back!

I have everything I need to make "heads turn" when I park my ride outside in public. I do sometimes have THUMBPRINTS after a day of parking outside in public especially on the bonnet. My secret is a well prepped ride with claying, polishing & sealing with Optimum Car Wax/Alien Wax. That's all. If desire extended durability, sealed with Opti Seal 1st and then let it cure for 1 hour and then top up with Optimum Car wax/Alien Wax for the extra protection and shine.

To some of you might not trust a spray wax BUT I can tell you honestly. This is different! I don't trust it at 1st but after you use it you will know. Optimum Car Wax/Alien Wax is a hybrid wax. It has polymer protection that provides durability of a paint sealant and a appearance of Carnauba Wax. Its the best of both worlds in a bottle.

I have most of Optimum products which I need... Alien wax, instant detailer/gloss enhancer(gives that extra wet look), alien clean, ONR(which I can make QD/clay lube AT ANY DILUTION STRENGTH without buying that Meguiar's RM40 red bottle), Opti Clean(CLEAN INSIDE AND OUTSIDE of my ride even glass)...

    Who do you all trust?

Lucky I saved my $$$ by not buying the Ultimate Wax or their professional/detailer line from Meguiar's.

To some Meguiar's fan that I may pissed off... I apologize as I was a former supporter too.

    ---------- Post added at 04:01 PM ---------- 6 hour anti-bump limit - Previous post was at 03:55 PM ----------

One more thing I wish to add is Meguiar's Endurance Tyre Dressing(gel/spray), both contains petroleum as in their MSDS. Petroleum+rubber not so happy marriage.

Something very important that I forgot to share, before this I had to spend a lot of time, energy & resources(dish soap/water) just to WASH my applicator pads, microfiber cloths(minimum 3 for wax residue removal) & clean the mess which I created after I stained my exterior plastics/rubber using liquid or paste waxes/sealants! PLUS during wax residue removal/buffing process I might also have chance to scratch the paintwork cause I will be removing DRIED product which I believe will be abrasive. DRY CLOTH+DRIED SURFACE+DRIED WAX/SEALANT! Like most of OPT products Optimum Car Wax/Alien Wax, Opti Clean(interior+exterior), Optimum Instant Detailer all are water based and its a spray on product which means I WON'T be dry buffing anymore+I can apply to the WHOLE CAR(including glass/plastic/rubber)! I will always have a barrier(something wet) between my paintwork & my microfiber cloth. I won't be scrubbing the paint anymore.

Now talking about washing the cloths+applicator pads, I had to soak the microfibers, applicator pads in dish washing liquid for a few hours and then only the sealant/wax will be easier to flush out from the cloth and pads. This is excluding polluting the environment with the washing/rinsing water of the soap. Sometimes the microfiber and pads still have something in them. Can see whitish powder(most paste/liquid waxes or sealant has this).

After moving to OPTIMUM products, my life is easier. We all know that spray product is easier to apply so I'll skip that. About the washing part, I only need to wash ONLY 1 microfiber cloth or maybe 2 maximum. I just make sure my paintwork is very clean and fold the microfiber cloth twice so I have 8 wiping sides and also to distribute the pressure of my palm. I wipe from the top down for the Optimum Car Wax/Alien Wax or Optimum Instant Detailer application making sure that the panels and cloth is damp(but not too damp as streaking will occur) during the process.

To wash the cloths after application I just use running tap water or from the hose. Until the microfiber is clean. I always make sure that isn't completely dry yet after the Optimum Car Wax/Alien Wax or Optimum Instant Detailer application. If it dries it will be harder to remove the residue & requires detergent(but still easier to remove compared to traditional waxes/sealants). NO more use of applicator pads(save $$$), No need to soak my microfibers for hours(save time), LESS impact to the environment(save earth) as I will be spending less time rinsing out my cloth/pads with soap and water(save my hands/skin). The skin of my hand is better as I don't need to expose my hands to dish soap for extended periods of time.

Again, let me remind you all that this is not some form of marketing. Its tried & true. That something I wish to share with others.

True KC. If using Optimum Car Wax/Alien Wax too much then it WILL STREAK indicating too much of product used & requires a few extra wipe of the microfiber cloth. I get once that I applied too much that I require to use ONR QD strength for a fix.

To some who is curious of the durability of Optimum Car Wax/Alien Wax then its best to reapply every month! Due to the extreme climate heat of Malaysia, waiting over a month for application is a huge risk. This is to prevent water mark attack. Check and feel your paint work after every car wash, it should have water beading and smooth/no friction when you run your finger over. It won't last 5 months as according to Optimum Polymer Technologies controlled lab test environment but it will surely outlast most car waxes/sealants out there and its easy to use. Just spray and wipe. Durability of a paste wax and ease of use of a spray. Life couldn't be easier.

For longer durability then will have to consider Opti-Seal(spray on wipe on walk away product) or Opti Coat(body coating).

Well to be fair, we can't say all their products are bad. Megs makes pretty amazing products too. Just that they are a big company and commercialise. Thus they try expound their product range to cover many market segments and does it so much that some products actually overlap. Such as the quick detailer and wax. You are right in this bro. Just that for most items, I prefer Optimum due to their environmentally friendly formulation. And the Power Clean really kick dirt's ass.

For those who uses QD to clay (RM 40 per bottle)

if u were to dilute 7ml ONR to 500 ML water it only cost you RM 0.75 as QD

I wish Optimum users would share the ratios used for things they do. I've only just recently managed to get the ratio for claying, car wash and now QD.

Now I have to figure out the OPC ratios. So far Seech has taught me only 1:3 for general purpose cleaning or full strength for stubborn stains.

This is my OPC ratio which may vary between aliens

Paint cleaning and general cleaning(interior and carpet): 1:5
Wheels and door hinge area (and also those carpet stains that are more stubborn): 1:3
    Engine bay: 1:1
    Stubborn engine bay: 1:0

See, I just gave out my secret.... habis lar my part time business.... hehe. We are all in the jolly mood of sharing.

    itachi0968,

I hope you will be train to be one of the detailiens. With Optimum Products which most are in spray form, it will be easier for you to enter the world of automotive detailing. Their products is by far one of the easiest to use and there is less chance to cake-up your polishing pad unlike those liquid type(Meguiar's M105/205) because you will be using less product. Especially their Optimum Hyper Polish which is in a spray formula with little to no dusting when polishing by machine(can also be applied by hand). The company OPT also mentioned that OHP has a long working time.

Excellent! actually i just want kc2 to help me detail and at the same time teach me on DIY. I'm really interested in detailing but need some professional guidance to prevent me from screwing up my own paint. Luckily i havent bought any meg's product because of its insane price. I hope Opt product can shine even with my clumsy hands :D

sorry but most of the season guys here use meguiars. i believe KC also use meguiars so i wont say meguiars is bad. There are some good products and some products use purely for marketing.

I myself had use APC 1:10 to entirely brush clean a leather interior then recondition with Opt Leather Protectant.
I use Opt Hyper Compound, M105, M205 and also Hyper Polish. I dont believe that 1 product "pawns" all others, yes OPT may be good but sometimes it doesnt work for everything. I started from OPT too. I believed that OPT owns all until I experiment with other products.

I now choose the best among all brand and use all of them. Diagnose the paint like a doctor, prescribe the perfect treatment for that particular paint work.

So, IMO, I think that let it be Meguiars, OPT, Osren, DODOjuice, or wadever brand out there, there are pros and cons, I work according to paint condition.

    Just a 2cent from a noob detailer ;)

Maybe for their professional/detailer line is good and not for the consumer line. Most of the consumer line is a major disappointment & it ain't cheap.

OPC,instant detailer, ONR, opti clean and other OPT products u see here are consumer range.

There are good consumer ranged products from Meguiars too, like UQD for a quick gloss and hydrophobic effect, APC also available for consumer. spray wax also available.

as consumers we should not be bias to products and get brain washed to one product. must see other must try others

True bro but I believe most of their products are OVERPRICED. At RM58 for their Ultimate Quik Wax that doesn't last for even a week I rather use Optimum Car Wax/Alien Wax. Not to mention their liquid/paste waxes... all are priced at above RM100 each except for their cleaner wax, for above RM100 I rather get Optimum Opti-Seal.

I think Meguiar's products mainly focus more on their hydrophobic technology.

Please don't blame all of it on Meguiar's OTC product pricing here. In US, it is dirt cheap and akin to our Soft99, Turtle brand price range. On the other hand, Optimum stuff there is more expensive than Meguiars OTC products and even most of Meguiars detailers/body shop range. I guess it is expensive in Malaysia due to shipping cost, custom taxes, marketing, branding, shipping quotas, etc. Since it is overpriced here that's why some people are claiming it is over rated. I myself started with Meguiars many many years back, then moved on to Optimum products 2 years back. Now I am finding other better products which gives me more satisfaction/performance, some even far more economical than Optimum/Meguiars products sold here. Just got to look for it. Your money, your choice, your decision, choose wisely. That's what this forum thread is all about. Not just showcasing works but also knowledge and products. Happy detailing.

To be honest bro, I ain't stopping anyone from buying Meguiar's or forcing them to switch to OPT. Is just that I got ripped off so bad with their consumer wax(NXT 2.0) that I feel bad if other people will be a victim like me. Barry also performed a video claiming how good his NXT line is so I bought it & I have to find out the hard way on the performance of the product by spending RM128!

I apologize again to those die hard Meguiar's supporters that I may pissed off like KrisMas and fishbonez as I believe both of them use their professional/detailer line a lot & still using them until today.

I would say that in Malaysia, we aren't really spoiled for choice. Look at Autogeek forum and you will drool (or at least I did) at the variety of products. But after checking out the shipping charges to have those delivered to Malaysia..... I have to hold back on my saliva.
