Is there such thing as a k20a type r engine with grey cover?
please help to confirm. thx
Just check the engine number stamped on the engine block. Can easily respray the engine to whatever color
doesn't look like spray to me..
anyway is the cover remove in this picture?
or it is a type s? seller claim is a type r
what on earth does 'is the cover remove in this picture', cant understand.
looks like the paint has been removed... All one can tell from this is:
-Intake plenum looks like a skunk so, cant really make a smart guess.
-Dipstick is black(type r's are black) BUT plug cover is black (type r's are silver)... which doesnt really mean much since both can very easily be changed or painted.
easy check the codes. That will at least tell u where the block is from, internals can just pop a plug and spy on the top of the crown, head im not sure, but the older b18's had unique codes
am not saying what it is, cause u really cannot tell short of checking the grant or going to view it yourself, i edited my comment, i misused a term earlier
u can try checking the gearbox.. type r will be 6 speed manual while type s will be 5 speed... also comes in auto for type s
still no guarantee that the engine is a type r... but not many type s owners would fork out the cash for a 6 speed type r gearbox since the whole reason for a type s conversion is cheaper budget anyway.
