i once (juz last week) got criticised by my chef that my dish worth in the dustbin,i almost cried.haha...but it juz makes me wanna prove him wrong

3. if its proper and for my improvement, i take it. if its pointless-style, looks etc, i reject it with sarcasm to the person who criticise me.

5.many ppl cant take criticism, they take it as an insult. criticism does come mainly from peers because of their experience and maybe they see a mistake going to happen again, and to prevent that they criticism.

simonchangwaimun; aren't questions 2), 3) and 4) rather similar? Anyway...

1. All the time.
2. Depends. If they hit the nail on the head, I take it like a man. Otherwise, I'm not going down without a fight.
3. Yes. Criticism is a part of life. Everybody will have an opinion on everybody else. Nobody can escape from it. You just have to filter through all the criticism and take those which are valid and which will help you.

5. Malaysians are a sensitive lot that have easily bruised egos. More often than not they take criticism too personally. They have to learn that in life, you have to take the negatives and the positives together. And as I've said in 3), everybody will have an opinion or something to say about you. On average, 50% of it will be things you want to hear and the other 50% will be things you don't want to hear. Although, we don't like to hear negative things about ourselves, nobody is perfect and we will have flaws and sometimes, criticisms are valid and could help us improve as a person.

Criticising on the issue is healthy but critics in forums these days tend to loose their attention and critices the charactor instead,not good.

Let say you criticise on an item and suddenly this less educated critic start to say you are this and that instead of focusing on the item being debated.

I guess it has to do with the quality of education in these critics.
