Hi all,

Im using AE101 4a-fe manual .
seems like the fuel consumption is very bad .
was told by a fellow forumer that it is best to send the car for diagnosis .
something like plug in cable to the car ECU or something to check what the ECU signalling and all .

so my question is where can i do it for my engine ? this is just a standard not BT, SVT or something .

and where can i go for retuning ? cause im getting crappy FC here .

340km for RM80 ron95 .

and how much would these 2 services cost?

thanks in advance .

If no check light means system ok,u just go service, change wear and tear parts, fuel filler caps and old hoses can cause high fuel consumption also...

Old cracked hoses can cause petrol to seep through,as well as old filler caps, where the rubber not sealing tight enough

nope .
no check engine light .
just wanna check bcos who knows if some of the sensor is dead or something .
just for diagnostic to know the car condition .

and yes, i do take care of the car, everything seems okay except for the fuel consumption .

i dont feel sluggish power, power lost or anything . its all good .

i do feel like my exhaust pipe system have leaking cause i hear roaring sound during low end rev .

never changed the o2 sensor for more than 15 years (i believe) and never changed the piping system(this confirmed) .

and also, what does retune means ?
some fellow forumer said it's tuning the ignition and camshaft timing .

mind to share guys ?

for the hoses, seems to be ok .
dont see any leakage at the fuel rail or any other hoses .
all looks good not wet or anything .

i'd prefer if i do the diagnosis first to know if there's any other problem with the car .
cant complain much cause its 17 years old and it works flawlessly .
just the FC is too bad .

and im trying to see if there's anything problem with the sensors and the electronic part of the car .

that's y im trying to find out which garage do the diagnosis and also tuning part. and how much it cost .

i'm just a newbie in the automotive world . just wanna get to know the car system better ^^,

ask ur mech to diagnose for u...should be rm80(around)

do a proper checkpoint and maintenance jobs.....it will restore back the power. check if ekzos system got leak o not(gotta jack up the car) vacuum hose got crack/leak o not, spark plug condition, engine oil grade, transmission fluid(at/mt), air filter condition etc

some members love to remove the negative battery terminal and leave it for 15minutes or more and put it back....let the ecu refresh....

i tried on my cars n it works for certain shits than my diagnostic scan tool cant solve.... lolz

Agree with bro huakenny... I did mine for RM80 in kk sabah. Truly, my previous problem was my O2 sensor. This is a famous cause for poor FC in old cars... Before I change, I got around 300 km for RM70. After change, I got 350 km.

Anyone can recommend a place in kl for this bro? Kegani specialised in 4AGE right? Can they diagnose 4AFE anyways?

Beo you can also ask around any automotive electrical shops. Some have the device... Last time I used "Launch" brand.

If really can't find, go back UMW. But they charge higher la...

yes bcos the sensor report wrong information to the ECU .
so ecu inject more fuel to compensate for the lost .
something like that .

O2 sensor/oxygen sensor/lambda sensor, basically sense the amount of oxygen in your exhaust.

If it detects excess oxygen, means to little fuel. So it signals the ECU to enrich the fuel.

If it detects too little oxygen, means that mixture is too rich. So it signals the ECU to turn it lean.

So it basically keeps your fuel mixture balance (stoich).

Normally after 10 years of so, it will give way. If it can't send any signal to the ECU anymore, the ECU will automatically tune the fuel mixture to "rich" for safety.

and i think the sensor work with the MAF sensor or something isn't it ? the airflow sensor on the air intake also play roles in the determination of fuel injection system .
