JOHOR BAHRU, 3rd & 4th Dec 2011 - Zerotohundred.com and Shell is pleased to announce the completion of leg 1 of the Shell Helix 2011*Invasion Tour to Johor Bahru. This is the inaugural collaboration between Zerotohundred.com and Shell. As many as 37 supercars comprising of Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsches, Lotuses, Nissans and Aston Martins rumbled to the south on the North-South Expressway yesterday. Participants included supercar owners from the Blue Jackets Society and selected members of the media as well as two contest winners.

The primary objective of this tour is to raise awareness on the importance of using the right engine oil and care for an engine. Stopping at a Shell station just outside the Malacca town for refuelling, the police-escorted convoy almost caused standstill traffic as the passers-by wanted to view the action.

The supercars convoy then headed to Movida in Hatten Square for lunch and from there to an R&R stop in Gelang Patah.

The Shell station at the rest area was abuzz with onlookers from Johore and Singapore, further adding to the drama of having a whole bunch of supercars rumble through. Since the drive from Malacca to the R&R stop took some time, some food was also prepared for the entourage. MC Roshan also went around asking Shell patrons about its products, rewarding them with 1 million Bonuslink points for the correct answers. Needless to say, the patrons were extremely happy just to see the supercars lined up at the station.

Subsequently, the entire convoy headed towards Kelab Alami in Tanjung Kupang, Johor, where the participants of the drive were given a talk by the Youth Rangers; a bunch of children and adolescents from all over Johore who volunteered their time at Kelab Alami.

The Invasion Tour convoy there culminated in a donation of RM 7,000 to the club to support its activities – to increase environmental awareness amongst the young people of the area and appreciation of the natural heritage. The Shell Sustainable Development Grant was issued to the club in 2009 to spark the entire Kelab Alami project off.

From the coast of Tanjung Kupang, the convoy then braved extremely heavy torrential rain heading towards Thistle Hotel in Johor Bahru. Safety as always, is first and foremost, as the drivers kept a disciplined convoy line, professionally escorted by the Royal Malaysian Traffic Police. There, the participants regrouped for a relaxing buffet dinner at Oasis restaurant.

Before the night ended, however, the owners went to party at Walker’s at The Zon.

The highlight the next day was the Lotus Cars Malaysia autocross competition, which happened at Danga Bay.

The Expert category was won by none other than seasoned professional racer and President of the Blue Jackets Society, Erwin Azizi, followed by Jart and Andy. The winner of the autocross – Fast and Furious category is Eric, with the first runner up, Satia and second runner-up Botak. In the media category, Autogridz’ Young showed class and skill in the Lotus Evora, pipping media guy Yap and blogger KY.

The second leg of the Shell Helix 2011 Invasion Tour continues on to Penang this coming weekend, on the 10th and 11th December, 2011. Find out more about the tour on twitter - #HIT2011, Zerotohundred’s Facebook page and www.zerotohundred.com

Great event, great cars... it was a bit unfortunately how some of them decided to drive back, especially in the normal Sunday evening traffic back to KL.
