Exactly, with inflation almost every single body part landed over from Japan at least easily costs hundreds.

Scary indeed, i have observe car kaki attended so much automotive function and spreading so much about himself (even resident detail) on social media that it cause his car being stolen. I must say they invites unneeded attention through social media. That, is another risk of being recognize publicly without keeping certain detail to ourselves.
this^~~ thats why you try keep low key!!! i know of people who post their cars everywhere.... asking for trouble je

mines is the mivec version, (actually a decent engine, fairly powerful top end, maintanance je abit high, if kaput i will dump in a 4g63t or 6a13tt no questions asked). ok,about insuring, so far from what i gather, its not actually difficult to insure, its just that most companies dont wana offer me 1st party coverage, I only managed to get 3 companies to offer me 1st party (AXA being one of the fellas who thankfully still offers 1st party coverage to these older cars at a price~) and on top of that, they charge me about 30% loading. Some guys i spoke to say that's a pretty decent deal, one of them insures the car for a much higher agreed upon value BUT in exchange pays 50% loading (which i find ridiculous)...

as for those cars you mention, they are usually offered 3rd party (fire n theft still covered ofc) OR if they cannot find someone who will make them an offer they will just go with MMIP.
So, the problem lies on getting 1st party coverage... By the way, what is MMIP? Sorry, not familiar with insurance stuff.

yep~~ other people might not like the same things we are willing to live with. Parents cant even sit in my car properly... masuk already, cannot come out, sister refuses to sit in the back after her 1st experience~
Just let your sister sit beside you next time.

Few months ago, my friend lost his EG Civic sedan to thieves at KL. A lot of people helped him share about his car. I think some of you must have heard or know about the car too. It looks quite fancy outside with parts that mimics a track car and Osaka's Kanjo Civic style. It used to be white and changed to gray before being stolen. The car was found around 1 day later but all the good parts have been ripped off. Mind you, his car was equipped with quick release steering and he took the steering off when the car is stolen. He has been driving the car for few years and it gets stolen just around a month plus after a Facebook car page featured his car in a photo shoot. I guess the fame created from the page caused thieves to target the car.

I post about my car at fb but I just set it to friends only... And I don't add random strangers.

my all daily car is modded car... no problem...

mod towards the direction u usually need the car to do...then sure no regret....

like suspension, yes im using coilover, but with softer spring rate to compromise rough road surface, yet bigger antiroll bar to compensate...

no solid bush/mount installed, but my own semi-solid hybrid bush/mount....

and so on so on....

modded car doesnt means u need to follow other people install 8k spring on 700kg car,
lowest ride height as possible,
semi slick tyre yet your travelling road was 99% highways....

each mods need to compliment each other for your smile on your everyday journey....

heck even my fully moded handling dept satria still have stock engine untouched and super silent exhaust.... and it was autobox summore....can do wangan, can do touge, wifey drive it everyday even while she was pregnant on rough kampung road to sum it up

If it is a normal car with subtle mods that you mentioned, I think it is still fine to drive it daily. What I meant for those that is suitable for weekend would be those real performance cars like Evo, FD2R, Elise like you said. Sure there are people who use them for daily but perhaps their income is quite high and money is not a problem for them. But for those with average income but enough to own these performance cars, I think it is better to keep them as a weekend car?

Parking space depends on where you live. If you are living in cramped city areas like KL or Penang, perhaps that will be the most important factor on whether to get a weekend or not.

...
Hmm firstly, I don't think anyone who can own such cars can be considered having 'average income', at least not in Malaysia where cars are so damn expensive.

Anyway I think I understand now your question, whether it is more beneficial/saving if actually owning 1 normal daily car and 1 weekend performance car instead of just 1 performance car and use it everyday, right? This is depending on what cars one wants to own I suppose, coz it will come down to how much cost to maintain those cars and how much depreciation they will incur, so not easy to say also. I personally would want to use the cars I like as often as possible, so if I own say an Evo I'd probably use it daily. That's why for me the ideal car would be a sedan that can perform like a sports car, so the best of both worlds from practical and performance stand point (or at least closest to having the best compromise of both). Again subject to how much one can tolerate the harshness etc2 which dictates how far one can mod also.

Din't know your Kancil turbo is that crazily modded. Or you are saying your Perdana?

I did wonder before how those people with very loud exhaust endure long distance travelling with their car. Since you are just staying at a certain range of RPM throughout the journey... Just the same droning noise for a long time. Unlike in track or roads with a lot of corners where your RPM will go up and down...

If put at house drive once or twice a week, is not that bad what?
All my car are for daily use, thats why can not go till to deep modification.. just comfort setup on suspension, exhaust.. no sound or less sound as possible.. but that Banana is for weekend / show off use.. exhaust 2.5 inch sound like boat... lol.. went to Penang and Cameron, my wife complaint saying just got out from propeller aeroplane...lol...

try mild setup, use daily (dont like me ya, mileage killer) will be very nice.. want to fast (make sure comb your hair..lol...) can and family use also no issue...:driver::driver:

From your description, your mods does not affect daily usability much. And most of it sounds reasonable without going too much on the extreme end. Your mods are not affecting FC badly or causing discomfort such as overly stiff racing clutch or very loud exhaust. By the way, does installing anti-roll bar affects ride comfort?

well, on the other car (boosted ride) i got FMIC, oil cooler, adjustable fuel regulator, 340lph fuel pump, camber plate, full coil over again with softest spring rate available, massive arb, straight pipe 3" exhaust but with massive fgk legalis super R which in turn during normal driving is quieter than fart canon na proton/honda... but when boosting time i got external wastegate :driver: ::burnout:

no racing clutch coz power level is stock

even if i upgrade my power level in the future, max i will go to heavy duty set, but no 6puck/4puck/3puck coz not needed on the street....

with bigger arb it does effect comfort slightly on really rough surface especially when left and right side of the road different (bumps/potholes on one side) but still manageable coz actual spring rate is on the soft side....

Average income as in like RM5k to 7k a month?

Yes, that is what I meant in my question. I think for the normal daily car, it is better to choose one that costs as less as possible to maintain. Otherwise, the add up costs will be even more than using 1 performance car for daily. I mean for some cars like Evo, I think the petrol bill can reach like over RM1k per month if driven daily. So, if one had another car like Myvi or Axia, then perhaps a lot of money can be saved in long run in terms of fuel costs?

You only have one car for daily use and mods right? I was quite impressed with your endurance on racing clutch usage during heavy traffic.

How did your stock clutch on boosted ride feel? Just as light as ordinary Wira/Saga kind of clutch? If it is, I think that is quite good. 3" exhaust muffler but somehow you manage to keep it quiet. S-flow muffler?

I guess the ARB prevents chassis flex which actually helps in absorbing impact?

the stock boosted oem clutch is already pretty firm compared to oem proton...when im driving perodua it felt like they didnt have any clutch pressure

its not preventing chassis flex...but any side to side suspension movement is lesser coz left and right connected more rigid...thats why on worst road surface sometimes can feel the harshness...but on normal road its pretty much like any other car...and when sweeping corners ahead, i can start smilling even from distance....

Seems like it will be tiring to drive these cars during heavy traffic. I've tried before the clutch for H22A SM4 Accord. It is as light as my own Wira 1.5.

So, if I equip ARB even with stock suspension, the differences can be felt during hard cornering?

my suggestion is to get a cheap daily driver. something that is fuel efficient, reliable and low maintenance.

you save money, headaches + gain some peace of mind (save your annual leave frm spending them in workshops).

the money u save, go get a nice car your can drive on the weekends, take your missus jalan2, tht occasional spirited drive to kuala klawang and tht weekend getaway drive.

daily u drive axia/bezza, weekend drive e92 coupe haha.

E92 coupe is still reasonable for daily drive I think. Comfortable and shouldn't be very difficult to drive during traffic jam.

Now, I only have a Wira 1.5. I'm thinking that I should just keep this car for long as a daily car instead of selling it away. Aim for a weekend car in future instead of just having one car for daily and also for mods.

Hope someday I can experience how it feels like. Not driving it, just feeling how does a 4G63T clutch feels like.

So, are you saying that Proton and Perodua cars have very light clutch or very stiff? I know last time my old Saga Iswara at home had a very heavy clutch feel. Around 2 times stiffer than standard Wira clutch. After a clutch set replacement, suddenly the clutch feels very light. Lighter than Wira clutch.

Well I suppose there's no right or wrong answer here. Too many variability that can swing the decision into one or the other. It can depend on how far one travel, what is the traffic conditions regularly encountered, what cars considered (which like I said determine the depreciation and operational costs), how hardcore one is, how much income one has, other commitments, parking space availability, safety, etc2. For one guy can be better to own 2 cars as he has the means to own 2 and ok to drive any cars daily, but for another guy better to own just 1 that gives him enjoyment driving it daily and yet still not hurting him financially or elsewhere.

For example one travels short-medium range daily, with mostly smooth roads and not much jam, has no parking space for 2 cars, then having just 1 car that he likes is the best solution. For another guy, he travels longer thru more jams, no issues driving anything daily even low end cars, and has the means to own 2 cars, then maybe that's the better solution. So no right or wrong here, each is a unique situation with each own suitable solution.
