After numerous teaser pictures and videos, McLaren had finally decided to take the covers off their new baby Mac. The new McLaren 570S will take its place as the brand’s entry-level sports model and is the first of the coming Sports Series range. We would expect for the Spyder version to come after, followed probably by a GT model.

The engine is similar to any other McLaren, but the twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V8 power plant here makes 562-horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. Mated to a seven-speed SSG dual-clutch gearbox, zerotohundred is dealt in 3.2 seconds and carries on to 200km/h in 9.5 seconds. Top speed is rated at 328km/h.

When fitted with the lightweight options, the 570S tips the scales at 1,313kg; in which 42-percent of the weight is over the front axle and the remaining 58-percent over the rear. Also like all the other McLarens, it is rear-wheel drive. Fitted with a set of grippy Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires (225/35/19 front, 285/35/20 rear), stopping power is provided by a set of carbon ceramic brakes.

Over to the interior, the seats are bathed in leather and McLaren had given the car improved visibility and some modifications for better day-to-day comfort since the 570S is designed to be one of the most frequently driven McLaren on the road, which is backed up by the 5.3 cubic feet of storage in the front trunk. The infotainment system, Bluetooth, climate control and all other features are controlled via the 7-inch touchscreen on the centre console.
