Inside Koenigsegg Goes Into Detail with Agera R’s Triplex Suspension!

Now that we have seen how the Swedish hypercar maker sculpts most of their car parts from carbon fiber, the second installment of the Inside Koenigsegg series takes through the suspension system developed by Koenigsegg themselves. The Triplex suspension design does not only deliver maximum traction for a better performance, but it also gives out a superior ride comfort that would not shatter the occupant’s spine.

Of course, designing a specific suspension for a car like the Agera R is not what one would call ‘easy’. If it is tuned to go around corners quickly, the ride comfort will be compromised, and the same concept goes otherwise. But by linking the Agera R’s independent rear suspension via a third damper, Koenigsegg has managed to reduce squat under heavy acceleration, allowing the use of a larger anti-roll bar while increasing the ride comfort as well.

The comfort of straight-line driving at average speeds could be interrupted with the presence of a roll bar, where the bumps are transmitted from one wheel to another. One of the back-saving features of the Triplex is that it absorbs the impact before it reaches the second rear wheel. This gives the Agera R the room to fit a larger diameter anti-sway bar that aids cornering, without giving the passenger a rough ride.

This episode might be a bit too technical, but it is nevertheless interesting to see the length of innovation that Koenigsegg went through in putting both performance and comfort to ride at the same line. Check out the video and let Christian von Koenigsegg himself gives you a better explanation on how their Triplex works.
