which engine is hardest to maintain

Since question is so general, i give general answer.

Any european cars. Mainly Alfa. difficult and expensive.

he he .. my frens savanna wif 13Brew .. put petrol RM20 + RM1 "kerosin" ..dumb larr he.. always got flame out muffler .. anyway he care the engine much .. always go servicing ..

i think an Audi turbo engine is hard to maintain....ive saw one of them trying to service an Audi turbo...well its not like a normal service i saw

it's not that hard if you know what's going on ;)

Most newer audis are very wired, a fault code will be registered if anything goes wrong and with the right tools, it is relatively easy to find the fault.

Same applies to beemers and mercs
Do a search on "vag-com" or "rosstech" or "OBD II" on google.

I would go with the electronic components in the car. Those are the main cause that would chop a leg and an arm off >< and make the engine maintanence expensive

Aiseh... electronic controlled engine VS mechanical engine... I vote for mechanical engines for easier maintenance... EFi engines are like hantu one! Cannot just fiddle here n there, carbies can... enjin semput either carb or coil / contact point / distributor oni. EFi ones - u just dunno where to start looking... ECU, wiring, injector, throttle body, distributor, sensors... etc etc... got?

Generally like that one loorrrrr...

I still prefer me old D15B Twin Keihin Carbs... 10500rpm no problem... ok... abit, head bengkok, got leak abit.... :D... Cheers.

Hmmm... hardest engine to maintain? I'd vote for EFi engines... too many things plonk under the hood. Unlike the good ol mechanical carbie days... and contact point (old type distributor).

EFi engines are better in fuel consumption and tier-to-tier performance upgrade... ie: first level : mechanical upgrade
air filter, air ram, exhaust system, porting, etc...
second level : electronics
ECU, piggybacks, digital add-ons (SAFC, RSM, Profec...etc)
- the more stuff added, the harder to detect who is the culprit when engine kaput.

Mechanical engine has lesser stuff... the essential of mechanical engines : carburettor / contactpoint or distributor and ignition coil... then comes the head and block, gearbox, alternator... easier to detect fault. Even a 4 throttle Dellorto or Weber (rare indeed) is easier to maintain than EFi system.

  kerosin?? put in normal 4 stroke engine can ar?

those car which have super ECU,wiring, sensor, and small engine bay, those engine hard to maintance n service
