weekend / long distance car

Pre-facelift Mark X 2005-2007.

i actually like Mark X alot, very yakuza look
but it's a V6.. which the first thing, my wife would comment is costly to maintain.
we used to have a perdana V6

good for highway, even took it to 220Km/hr but maintaining is a great pain.
the fastest record that i ever achieve, was 4hrs from Ipoh to Johor.

Actually I barely spend anything to repair mine (maybe just around rm2k+ or even less, so few that I barely remember also) for more than 5 yrs of ownership as the car is very reliable (but mine is year 2008 facelift model). Engine itself is pretty much bullet proof. Regular maintenance and fast moving parts are also quite reasonable actually.

inspira,

seems that this car is still very popular, i have actually google about it.
A lot of users are still recommending inspira for long distance drive.

How about the previous generation Mazda 6? Can be had for under 50k but haven't heard many reviews about it.

Boss, a TOYOTA V6 and a Perdana V6...cannot compare. Your wife should know Toyotas are super reliable. But I think for comfort and refinement the E39 cannot be beat.

And frankly I think it still looks damn sexy today. Unlike that fugly E60.

When you say expensive to maintain perdana V6, is it the cost to change spark plugs ?

timing belt much longer.... hydraulic tensioner. Workmanship fees also chop abit. Some bits, theres noway to access it unless you remove other bits first.

sparkplugs are just a small part of it, the first time i diy checked them, front bank 10-15 mins to open clean and reinstall, 7 hours for the back bank. battery stabilizer bar, intake manifold (and everything else), throttlebody (also means you mess with coolant as well) had to come out.

mark X V6 shouldnt have same issue, its RWD and the spark plugs are on the left and right not front to back.

Ouchhh...

No hard feelings tho, I honestly like the E39 too.

Taste very personal. Some like big butts, some like [strike]rice[/strike] red seats. *cough izso cough*

But I think E39 is a timeless classic. Coupled with an inline 6 — bmw don’t make them naturally aspirated anymore.

Hahahahaha, I thought he disliked it?

Yea it'd be nice if they swapped in the high revving S54 but it'd be a very expensive swap.

Haha, my bad. Was joking, please forgive me.

Don't want turbo cars, had enough of turbo. Spending time and money in workshop, already dampen me.

It seems there not much variety out there for me.
Renting car for long distance drive is also expensive.

skyline g35 4door.... nuff said

not really..
when i had my v6, i actually purchase iridium spark plugs..

the thing i hate about perdana is the quality and replacement of lower arms.
so many lower and upper arms, spent like 2k to replace but before i could get to enjoy.
some one hit me from the rear and it's never the same.

actually v6 or others, i can really do with it as long its problem free.

I dont want another car where i keep sending to workshop for repair.
And of course, can keep for good as i will hardly drive it.
only use for long distance or once a month.

if not for my long distance travel, can really consider taking Uber..
haha :driver:
nowadays, i also start to take uber, just plain lazy to drive and stuck in jam

Your best bet is the MarkX tho IMO. *calling bro 6UE5t*

Actually I agree with the Mark X idea as well. Although its a V6, its a Toyota V6. You want problem/hassle free, Toyota cars are generally reliable. Camry and Accord is just boring.
