**WANTED**
Helping a fellow trekker with problematic awd transfer box.
It's the small gearbox that mounts onto the main auto gearbox, with 1 output to right driveshaft, and another 1 output to rear longshaft.
Can say almost 100% of the time, it's the spline at the rear coupling that fails. Somehow, Mitsubishi did not make them tough enough for the Airtrek turbo. The moment 1 of the spline teeth breaks, the rest will eventually follows, 1 tooth less = more load/torque to remaining teeth. U'll hear a lot of noisy "kling klang" from beneath. The car will still be driveable, untill all the teeth is chewed up =(
