To everyone out there,

Need some help here ... can someone help me / direct me / show me where I can go and buy a v8 engine (preferably Ford, eg. mustang)? Would really appreciate your help guys. :(

fuiyo.....ford v8! for what car?

the only ford v8 you can get here is the one from the ford explorer suv which was available in the market some time ago.

you might want to check those chop shops in klang. other than that, you may have to place an order.

j, seriously, for what car?

i do remember seeing a chevy camaro z28 v8 being rebuilt in old klang road sometime back. the car body was in excellent condition true american classic muscle.

the car was there for quite sometime because the mech was waiting for some parts to arrive from us of a.

if you insist on getting a mustang engine, suggest you try e-bay or search the web - you can place an order over the web in some of the sites.

I would suggest you try the sites from australia. Australians have a ford v8 production model. its not the mustang i believe its called the falcon or something.

try www.ford.com.au.

sudha,

yes I'm serious ... it's for my mk2 ... wanting to retain back it's status of Ford because currently using Toyota engine. If I can find a Ford engine, I'll be selling my engine ... if I can find twin webber then I'll be selling my ecu also.

Have tried looking in e-bay but abit afraid of shipping those stuff ... what if the engine crack? Yeah sure there's insurance but it would be a waste of my time ... :P

Currently dropped my search from a v8 to v6 ...

Then again, any Ford engine because my original engine (25 years old already) konked out for good. Minimum looking for a twin webber , dohc ...

any leads sifus?

greatly appreciate your help

nos ... thanks ... as much as I am tempted to get that v8 but trying to retain back my Ford status.

I mean I'll be happy even with Lotus engines too ...

Hi J,

ok..for your mk2...things may be a bit difficult. i am not sure how you are going to fit a v8 or a v6 in it - a lot of work but i guess you are firm in your decision.

try this - Ford and Mazda do come out with a series of V5 engine from the K family - you might want to check this out.

another option is go to the chop shop that you are most familiar with and ask them when is the next shipment is coming in. once you sort this - get them to bring a V8 engine in for you.

found one corvette 1989model= engine v8- 4.7 litre RM4500 only its a push rod type. its carberator injection machanism, it runs a computer box as well..

interested, i bring u go see la..
but wiring all dont ask me..
heheheh
have fun dude!

hey thanks alot for all your replies and help ... appreciate it mates! ;)

sudha,
after discussing with other few friends of mine, I suppose v8 would be too much or a real overkill. Well, dad didn't quite like the whole electronic thing and he's still living his old days of carbs, dual barrel and what not. Last I checked, v6 is still possible however on the v5, thanks for the heads up and will do research on it.

vteckiller,
seriously?! Walan ... will call you one of these fine days but so busy now that everything is crashing on me :( ...

Might wanna sell my mk2 once it's done up ... reason for selling? Getting a replica of something even more old school ... If that one can jalan lar ...

:)

hey j - take it slow, do some thorough research before you decide. I would definitely love to see your old skool escort once its all pimped up. try this link for some info on the mazda V6 engines >>Mazda Engines

or if you're still keen on V8s, here's some info on Aussie V8 engines >>Aussie V8 Engines

Cheers mate!

thanks sudha but ... sigh ... alas,

my trusted mech doesn't think it's possible or rather it's too much work. Even my friends told me off for being too crazy extreme overkill but that's me ... I guess I just can't finish at mediocre and if I'm going for it, I'd rather go for it all the way ... :P

Currently mellowed down ... :( :( :( :( ... from v8 to v6 to any Ford RWD engine that can fit in my MK2. Doesn't really matter to me if I get a lower powered / lowered hp that what I'm currently having.

As for research, been doing that quite some time on my own actually ... just refining my wide scope of possibilities :)

I wanted to keep it as a surprise but here's for all those MK2 lovers like myself ... my project ...

it's not my car don't get me wrong

dude....dont despair!

you should look at the Kia Sportage '95-'00 engine. this model comes with a famous mazda engine which can be tuned to give 170hp on 10.0.1 compression ration, n/a stock.

this engine started life in early mazda 626/ ford telstars as a front wheel drive. later it was adapted to kia sportage and redesigned to be a rear wheel drive version.

check it out. maybe its not the end of the world for you. get a sportage half cut and maybe you might have to fabricate a custom sub frame to fit the engine in.

the best resource for you is to go to www.cardomain.com and see what the western monkeys have done with their rodes.

sudha what's your ride man? where's your location dude? let's go yam cha so I can learn from you  ... me is still noob ... :P But hey, thanks for support man. Really appreciate it :)

Well one thing I do like about Mazda engines is that you can squeeze alot of power from it ... however, having heard advises, opinions and a lil bit of research, the maintenance as well as the realibility wise (comparing to brands like Toyota, Nissan, Lotus) isn't really there. Currently, if I was 5 years younger, then hell yeah, I wouldn't mind ... I've seen a very nice b8 run and man, silent killer.

 I have checked out the wester monkey's mods over cardomain. There was this orange Ford MK2 RS2000 specs ... man I was just drooling buckets when he listed out the specs ... :P

Will keep you posted if there is any further progress on my car mate ...

J, am just glad you're keeping your options open. I'm driving a ford telstar 2.0, old skool.

just found an engine, FE3 auto n/a with 150hp stock. engine going in in mid december. its the same as the kia sportage but its a front wheel drive.

I got myself hooked on mazda engines when i was looking for something suitbale for my ride.

IMHO, mazda's are very reliable engines compared to others. You must have heard horror stories abt the rotary engines which are mostly true - high maintenance. the BP, FE , and K family engines are much more reliable.

yum char no prob. wher are you located? I just PMed you my mobile no.

cheers

jethrel - just chuck in the SR20Det from the Nissan family and see how the humble MK2 turns into a beast in no time at all.....hehehee.

Bro Jethgrel..

I am driving a Lantis Type R (Yes, mazda had coined the term "type R" way before Honda did, 1993 to be precise) with a 2.0 V6 (codenamed KFZE) with standard LSD tranny. HP is rated at 170 and it sure kills any wanna-bes on the road.. GTI and EG9 included.. silent killler.. my pride and joy... and the V6 really sings...

wahh.. wanna put v8 engine to ur escort ka bro.. waa sure hard to find that engine ooo.... use the mustang gt engine la.. sure superb oooo hehehe..

i think in msia u can get the bmw 8 series engne. it is also v8 engine 4liter. only the price la dun know how much hehehe..

by the way bro i saw in the internet. even ford shelby also swap to rb26 engine. japan engine also powerfull maaa..
