looking at turbo trend, nowdays s/steel intercooler pipping route seems to be it's a must. however looking at stock car manufacturer or some of the US turbokit manufacturer, they seems to be only using normal steel for the purpose.

so my question is, does s/steel intercooler pipping really important? or its more on showcase purpose? weight? heat dispend?

my fren told me there is no L=elbow in normal pipping or at least in normal exhuast pipping.

all feedback and opinion appriciated

stainless steel is expensive but better dissipation for heat
normal steel is actually a cheaper alternative and strong
best is stell aluminium piping , checkout Greddy fmic kit, be suprised by the price , it aint cheap

s/s in malaysia is ok , they can get elbow's , they even got donuts to cut out to make nice curves

The best is still aluminium piping but I dont see any exhaust shops using aluminium for intercooler piping. Is it because aluminium is harder to work with?

TOMEI-R : material for aluminium is ok ok priced
have u looked over aluminium weld, u might pengsan
even to weld a small leak on ur intercooler might cost u around 40-50 bucks just for a small spot

SS definitely for looks oni.

Alloy's heat dissipation definitely better than SS..

the sucky thing about alloy is it looks dem fugly thanks to its dull outlook.

wanna go for looks take SS. For perf, take alloy

welding is a biatch... thats why my alloy IC piping joints all quite thick to prevent leakage, adds to the fugliness as well

your mentioned alloy means normal steel pipping? does it have L elbow?

No wonder not many ppl are using aluminium for intercooler piping. But those ready made intercooler piping by brands like GReddy or Trust are aluminium rite? Cost a bomb though.

alloy as in alluminum alloy..

and nope it doesn't hv any elbow joints for that matter.. all the L joints are all cut n rewelded to form the joint... no easy task, hence the fugliness.

if u aren't prepared for fugliness, go stainless steel.

apparently there's no ready made alu joints in kl.. at least that i know off.

i doubt u can put alu on a mandrel as well..

another benefit of alu would its lightweightness...

hm.... since alu is like almost impossible, i guess next best would be s/steel

blackhowling bang, not up for anything. ehehehe. i shld be asking u what is my mutiara white S15 bro is up to recently?
