R3-Satria (gti)

The Stage-2 camshafts should be coupled with the cam pulleys for best effect. What I got are as follows:

- 131.5whp
- 160kph on 3rd gear achievable
- change in engine note beyond 6400rpm
- slight burble during idle, after hard driving (disappears after couple of mins)

I can't comment on the torque figures or hp curve, since I don't have the dyno chart yet. Do note that the above figures are done on a car fitted with the MMC ECU (from 1st batch GTi).

Kudos to the R3 boys. It took 4 whole days and some nights to complete the tuning up to a level deemed satisfactory by R3. That's the dedication they have to their work. But expect a quicker time with the Siemens R3 (SR3??? hahaha), as the cam timing specifications are already determined for that model. Only mine with the MMC setup required new R&D work.

So, good news for GTi owners too. Now you too can enjoy R3 mild camshafts at a very competitive price compared to what's out there in the market.

any R3 owners that have the parts price list can PM me the price list for the Stage 2 stuff?...coz i wanna calculate how much i need to save and bring back later at the end of the year :P

Before the upgrade what was the whp?

Quoted figures for stock SR3 are 120whp. From dyno sessions, in general, figures are around 120-123whp.

With Stage 2 cams, expect 10% increase. It may sound like a small improvement, but never judge it by peak figures alone. It is the torque curve that is important. The Stage 2 cams have a higher torque curve, and wider powerband, so more useable power across the range, as with prozac's little monster.

It's quite a different beast. Like a different car almost.

Sell your house, dog, cat, mother-in-law. Eat roti canai everyday for the next half a year. Do whatever it takes. But get the stage 2 cams people. You WILL NOT regret it. :)

Stage 2 engine upgrade covers cams, plug cable, cam pulleys, rear engine mount. A CAI system is in the works.

Stage 2 suspension upgrade covers bushes, 4 point lower arm bar, bumpsteer kit.

Other yummy parts are the short shift kit (under development) and the front splitter.

And of course the exclusive stickers and decals/badging which should give you additional 5-10bhp. :D

Pretty smart of them to split the stage 2 upgrade because i doubt anyone could afford it at a go. Is there any upgrades for the bodykit itself? and what happens to the stage 1 parts after u upgraded to stage 2? Do you guys get to keep it or it is traded in?

Well, you'll be surprised. Some want to do a full package, all at once.

There are no bodykit upgrades, except for the front splitter, which is an excellent product in itself. Helps with downforce. Some aerodynamics to help you in cornering :)

When you buy and install Stage 2 parts, you get to keep your old stuff. R3 never keeps any of your stuff.

i wonder where my old spoiler went then >.<

ahhaha, so if i were to get a satria r3 now, is it possible for me to request them to upgrade the entire car to stage 2 then i just take a loan for the total amount (car + stage 2 upgarades)? If this is possible then i can say i would be definitly interested to get one.

No shortcuts to Stage 2

Sorry Stonerjuan, you can't. I asked them bout that before I bought my R3. You can only get the car at Stage 1. Upgrading to Stage 2 is cash only.

sigh :( guess i will just wait and see how the gen2 r3 turns out. My neighbour owns a satria r3 every morning when he starts the car the sound that emits from the car is just breath taking. I feel like snatching the keys from him and take it for a spin.

give faisal a buzz. He can arrange for an appointment with the R3 boys. I will PM you his number.

Ah...back in my hometown now. Hope I didn't collect too many speeding tickets. The Stage-2 cams didn't affect top speed that much. But mid-range acceleration is excellent. 4th pulls all the way to 190kph. Oh yes, the burble after that hard drive is something I miss...gotta get back on the road pronto!!! :)

Thx for the pm crash and faisal.

BTW crash, how much do u bought for the carbon pedals?
