Hey all, I've had my R3 for bout a month so since the car's already been runned in (heh), I guess I can start looking for other R3 owners. I have been invited for the R3 gathering but I haven't had a chance to go coz I'm usually stuck in office late.

For the record, my car's number 107. Kinda funny though coz apparently, there was only 20+ cars left when I ordered mine and I still ended up with #107.

My car had the misaligned boot problem, which the R3 team at Shah Alam rectified (thanks Faisal) after I called Adian to complain. On top of that, there was a slight problem with the clutch which has also been rectified. I suffer from the same dashboard rattling that some of you have, and of course the typical proton power window problem. Not only were the windows sticking, but there was also a problem with the switch and I've already voided the warranty on that coz I had to take it apart one night when my window got stuck halfway. Ah..the joys of owning a proton. Oh yeah, my brakes squeek too, and I thought it was a defect until I hear that the rest of you have the same problems.

Other than that, I love the car, handling's superb, car's a dream to drive. So anyway, how many R3 owners are there here?

Oh yeah, some of you might already know me here, used to own a Putra and I used to be the VP of the Putra Club. Technically I'm still the VP though, coz there hasn't been any new elections, haha. Another funny thing, the VP of the Putra Club driving an R3.

In the R3 supplement there is an explanation to bed-in your brakes, which would minimalise the brakes queeks. Improper bed in of the mintex pads are what generally causes squeeks.

Bear in mind these are high performance Brake pads that are used for Fast road driving and spirited Track driving. They are not race pads per se but on the tracks, as many owners would bear witness to, these pads perform briliantly.

I've personally used the pads oin various cars. In the M24 R3, spirited driving up/down Genting, Frasers and hard continous laps in Sepang ( min 5 laps) have proven that these pads work. And the disc wear was marginal. On our own developement car ( which leads a very hard life) the front pads were only replaced after 30,000 km of hard road and track abuse. The rears are the same as the day it rolled of the line.

There has been a case where an owner, after being ill-advice by his regular mechanic, has installed D** M****** pads. Not only did this void warranty his disc wore and braking performance left a lot to be desired.

Well, a bit too late to bed in the brake pads now I guess, I'll just have to live with the noise.

The brakes are ok, but I find it lacking at times, but that's no surprise coz I'm used to a bigger brake pump and twin pots with Endless pads.

So where are the rest of the owners here?

is 10 days and 1100km considered too late to bed in the brakes? for me the squealing is only noticeable during start stop traffic..

R3 boys should offer an upgrade, especially with all the goodie Stage 2 stuff being made available.

It's only really obvious at low speeds. It's like a welcoming chime :)

Anyone knows if the Pivot 3-stage shift light can work with the Siemens ECU? I heard someone mentioning that it can't.

Bloody Siemens ECU is rather unfriendly to third-party products don't you think?

I was planning to install that too. Is it the one that plugs in to your ciggie lighter?

Yes, you can plug it into your ciggie lighter, but when I installed it on my Putra, I asked the mechanic at N1 to splice it into the ciggie lighter wires so that it's constantly on.

So right now I haven't installed the shift light yet, so before I get it installed, I just wanna confirm that it can work.

yup the r3 is great.. seriously enjoying the drive to work daily..
the car cost like rm77,888.. offset ur 20k d/p.. and u have smtg like rm705/mth (at rm57,888 loan @ 3.5% for 9 yrs)
my maths is kinda rusty.. appreciate anyone who can verify this or u can just contact the SA.. when i was in mutiara on friday, the SA said there were only 5 or so left..

So how many R3 owners are there here?? Don't see that many on the road. I've bumped into a few in Shah Alam though, and one on the LDP. Saw another one parked at the Midvalley valet parking area a few months back. But other than that, it's a very rare breed.

seen a few in hartamas on wkends.. one was even parked close to mine.. still waiting to see a lady driven r3.. oh and the sarawak registered plate "3" on an r3 is damn cun.. lucky guy/gal..

There's about 95 units in Klang Valley. And on this forum roughly 20??
