Lo everyone

I'm using Motul 4100 for my RX-8, and did an oil change the other day. Used my opened bottle of 3L, then wanted to buy another at the workshop, they dont have it in stock. I'm having quite a problem finding the said oil, even the distributor (got the name off the net) said importer will bring it in next month.

Which is a better move:
1. Top up the remaining 1L with another oil, with one that is "nipis sikit" or one with the same viscocity (10w40)

2. Change oil altogether.

Thanks in advance for your help!

i'd buy new oil. suppose this is rather "anal" but a rebuild is not something i'd want in the near future. i suggest you go with a more popular brand of oil shell or mobil. its better to change more often than get top end stuff. hope this helps.

Take no offence on what i'm about to say... you have a beautiful car, it's high end stuff, so dont skimp on the "necessaries". Why pay 200k plus for a car, and skimp on maintaining it. Take care of your rotary, and it'll provide you the best ride of your life. You gotta pay, to play dude... Aside from that, enjoy your ride, and hope to see you at our next RE meet.

Cheers

I'm not skimp, skint maybe lol. I had an extra bottle of Motul at hand, used 1L. So during the routine service I brought the remaining 3L with me, expecting to open a new bottle there. Unfortunately the workshop (maybe even myself) lacks the benefit of hindsight of checking if the 4100 is available first before draining the oil.

Problem solved anyway, found a bottle at JFA just now. Thanks again guys, hope to join the RE meet one day.

Semi syn Motul Turbolight 4100. Have used this for both 5k services so I cant really compare with other types/ brands.

ahhh thats the oil ive been searching too, yeah its out of stock in Sunway.Im going to send my 8' for service at Blitz Motorsports,Sunway.

the chief mechanic there,Desmond told me not to use Synthetic oil,he said its too thin and will burn up too fast.Since rotaries use engine oil to lubricate the apex seals and whatnot,Thats why we can use only semi syn or mineral rite?

THAT you have to ask the more experienced heads. As far as I know, fully syn works on the renesis fine.

My car was there at Blitz last Saturday. Try JFA motorsports if you are looking for the 1400. I saw one bottle left today. I mean yesterday. :)

but surely he got a reason why he said that.I think i want to believe him.hehehe.I wonder if he's entirely right though,RE Amemiya's engine oil is also in full syn right?

What kinda crap is that ?? Can't use synthetic oil ??
What kinda grass are you smoking ? Synthetic has been used in rotaries for a long time now. With good results. Of course , mineral base oils are cheaper and has a track record with the rotary. But why not the better lubrication/cooling with Synthetic at a little extra cost.
