Hi All,

A couple of days ago, I stumbled on this forum in search of a "real-world" review of Proton Persona Elegance, as I'm planning to buy one.

A quick introduction of myself: *I'm not a Malaysian/Singaporean. I'm working in Singapore, I have a malaysian gf and we are planning to settle down next year. With regards to this, I'm planning to purchase a brand new/2nd hand car and Proton Persona Elegance (new) seems to fit my budget of 70k and below. But upon reading on one of the threads here regarding the problem of Persona and Proton cars in general that still haven't been resolve, I have some second thoughts. But I do believe that regardless of what brand of car we have, problem will occur. Back home, my family owned Nissan GTS and Honda Civic and it too have problem. I also want to try and look for 2nd hand car but I have no idea which shop in JB is a legit 2nd hand car seller. I'm not that good in scrutinizing engine or car either, I do know some basic stuff but the deeper one, im clueless.. I know it's a shame hehehe :banghead:

So, my question is: with my small budget for a car, is it wise to buy Persona Elegance? or will I just settle for 2nd hand car? I'm looking for a sedan type of car. *:-)

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Great website/forum by the way...keep it up and more power!

if u plan to go for 2nd hand car, choose toyota or honda bro...
how bout proton inspira? slightly higher budget, but its worth it.

hi sir, its not shameful at all, dont worry.. there was a time when i dont know zit about engines also, now also dunno jugek.. if u wud like to search for a good car without encountering lemons, i can help u out. ive been giving dis service for quite sum years to frens, pm for more details, tq sir

IF you bought a brand new car and still have problems... you're a really really lucky man... unless it's a proton. I find that Perodua cars seldom have problems... must be Toyota QA that's why. =)

Anyway.... 70k budget if I were you I'd top up and get a brand new vios/city which ever u prefer. IF you already had your mind set originally on a brand new car, then stick with getting a brand new car.

Buying a 2nd hand car is a gamble... u unlucky get a badly maintained car... you're going to end up spending loads on maintenance later while driving.

finding a goo used car is like finding a needle in a hay stack, no doubt.. but its more worth it imo as it will be much, much cheaper then a new unit. the thing is, u need to be able to identify the good ones from the lemons. i think its worth it if i get a good used car with a good chassis, and spend around another 2k to get dat unit refurbished, for dat extra piece of mind.
