my radio fm tuner rosak...advice pls

bro sekalian...
i got a sony xplod HU...
recently while playing mixfm..suddenly tertukar to hitz by itself...
then sume go heywire...
very pelik...

then my father sent the HU to an acc. shop...
guess wut...
the shop owner said it wuz the fm tuner yg rosak...
he wanted RM200 to repair!!!
come on laa....penipu gilee punye org...

i need some advice...
where to get it repaired...

Well, is better that you scout for few shop first before you repair it. Or is it still under warranty?

but sony hu really annoying 1..after around 1.5 / 2 year 60-70% radio rosak..if not then cd cant read..

Atleast you are facing the Sony HU that can play for 1.5years. Mine last time 1year and 1week, even worst. Spoilt only after warranty finished.

i think if u wan repair, it's gonna cost u a bomb..change hu better...just my humble opinion...
wat if after repair, ur hu still cant last for even 1 year, wat do u think?

Honest shop in KL? Or maybe other place. How honest you want them to be? A HU that cost 400, they sell for 600 or higher without workmanship. Anyway your HU already used for 4 years, I think you can change a new one already. Nowadays a low end or outdated Pioneer cost around 350, if spend 200 is better that you buy a new one.

If you can get a cheap price also I don't think it is a good idea, as your HU already 4 years. Maybe the radio repaired then the CD give problem. Or you can try to check the connection between antenna and your HU. Or you can buy a second hand HU.

hmmm my experience with sony xplod HU was:-

1. Right after getting my HU, noticed that sometimes cannot play CDs. Inserted CDs but cannot hear the motor sound when reading CD. Since under warranty, sent it in and problem fixed at no cost.

2. Slightly over 1 year, suddenly my output to speakers no more sound. I was not using an amp on my ICE and so sent in to Sony for repairs. Diagnosed as an IC burnt, they replaced it for about RM100.

3. Quite recently suddenly cannot read CD-RW disc. Tried using CD lens cleaner but to no avail. Frustrated I took apart the HU and used a cotton bud and dipping in alcohol solution and cleaned the lens manually. Worked fine after that.

As for your tuner problem, i suggest sending into to Sony and ask them to diagnose and get cost confirmation before they repair it. I trust that their charges are reasonable. If u sent 3rd party, scared their repairs not 100% functional. better be careful and be safe.
