Well, for myself I've tested both civic 2.0 as well as lancer gt 2.0. I prefer lancer gt 2.0. Why?
Firstly, let me tell you guys, I'm a very tall guy, 6ft2in. Lancer gt has more leg room and head room, guy size like me will definitely like Lancer compare to civic as civic is too pack less and less head room.
Secondly, Lancer in auto mode is very smooth, so if you are a family man, you definitely need to choose this car, some people might say it has less power, its not true. You don't feel the power is because lancer gt is using cvt gear box (if anyone don't know what a cvt is, please do some research) which physically it doesn't have 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th gear and so on, it is being control by program and that is why when lancer gt kick start, you wouldn't feel the power pulling you, so it is really suitable for those family men or women.
Thirdly, not only it suitable for family men or women, it is also suitable like me who sometimes like to drive it more sportly. By switching to sport mode, you can feel the car going wild really like there are a lot of horses pulling it and it makes you feel like you just don't want to stop pushing the car to higher and higher limit.
Fourth, it has better suspension and better handling. It makes you control the car and not the car controlling you.
Fifth, very comfortable seats with car like this.
Well, with all this advantages, you should ask yourself, why not lancer.
For civic, I don't like it at all after the test drive, it doesn't have all the advantages that I mentioned just now. FYI, civic is local assembly and lancer is CBU and yet cheaper. I just don't think is a good idea for Honda to earn more money here. Anyhow, I'll definitely get a lancer if compare to civic.
Also, if you somehow would look at other option, stay tune, the all new Hyundai Sonata YF will be launching soon, and believe me, you really don't want to miss this car. So, my advice is don't rush yourself to decide lancer or civic, wait for the new Sonata to launch then only you decide.
