MINE'S ECU tuner recommendations

dynoed at 237 hp on wheels, torque is only 30++ (forgot), before tuning, only 199 hp!!!, that's the difference for dyno tune!!!. I'm using RB25 turbine and MINES'S ECU with an SAFC (must use 'cause the mine's setting doesn't 100% fit my engine), and also an HKS RB26dett fuel pump running 210lph, so engine running very rich before tuning. I've considered HKS GT2540 turbine, but at the current settings, my injectors won't be able to support it, so no choice but to service my current turbine. Garret turbines are good but not as durable as HKS and Greddy if running on high boost all the time (1.4-1.6 bars), so HKS is my primary choice.
 
I have a Mines ECU in my 180SX.. the only problem I had was that I can't change the air filter from a HKS mushroom type to an Apexi cone type.. there would just be a lot of pressure drops during idling and the car sounds as if it's choking or something..

I plan to put in an S14 turbine with an S15 intercooler, and later install Nismo 555cc injectors and rewrite the ECU later. But according to this topic, there is no way to rewrite a Mines ECU in Malaysia right? My car's mainly for drifting and I don't need very high boost, just enough to get me around the bend. I hope to bring it back with me after I gradutate and have some fun in Malaysia too..

That is very peculiar.. unless the the Apexi filter is totally mucked up with dirt, changing air filters shouldnt cause your engine to act like that. Your upgrade path looks great, if you still have your stock ecu perhaps you could try putting in an SAFC and tune the fuel map.
Else the next best thing is just to save up and get either an Apexi Power FC or a HKS FCON...these would be a good upgrade as you will then be able to really tune your engine parameters and get the optimum power. Which part of Japan are you in? heheh, perhaps you can bring lots of goodies back!
 
Up north in Yamagata and there's a blizzard outside right at this moment.. I could just upgrade the parts now, and get the other stuff in Malaysia after I start working and make money..

The car is doing approxamately 225hp.. which is about 185hp/tonne (my car only weighs 1.2tonnes) and I intend to get it up to 250hp/tonne or more..

A friend of mine told me that the previous owner may have written over the EPROM and calibrated it for the current setup, and that includes;
HKS SPF (mushroom type)
Kakimoto full exhaust set (frontpipe, midpipe, end piece w/o catalyzer)
HKS Turbo Actuator (currently set for 0.75bar of boost)
and he also told me that the low pressure in the exhaust system might also have triggered the idling problem. He suggested an Apexi Active Tail Silencer and that I reinstall the stock sensor that was connected to the catalyzer (EGT?), coz that might also have something to do with the problem.

If anyone has any idea on this, I would really appreciate it if you shared it with me.

Hey that bikirom thing looks sweet.. USB connection? No more EPROM.. sweet..

BTW I'm not into drag where you need all the setting at POWER.. but more towards engine response.. while standalone ECUs are great but they're way too expensive for most people like me.. or I might just save up and wait until I can actually buy a Haltech :D

only at 0.8 bar, can't boost higher, the tuner said maybe the turbine got problem already, I'm planning to boost 0.9 bar
 
GSR_Freak: Nope. Too much hassle. But I'll give you a nudge if I decide to bring anything back.

stormlcc: What injectors? What fuelpump+regulator?

I have a GTR32 fuelpump in my SR20DET, and with an injector+ECU upgrade, I bet I can go 1.0bar of boost easily. My friend's done it on his S14, so I don't think I'll have any problems.
