I had an unfortunate run with my gearbox input as well as feeder seals dying on me just before getting on the track last week. Was a blessing in disguise as this gave me the chance to change out all oil seals and bearings with new units. The picture below will explain failure point as well as help those purchasing newer parts confirm.

As for my gearbox problem, there were no symptoms. No crunching of gears whatsoever. Only thing that was visible is after a flat out run the shifter console started to smoke inside the cabin. That was the only indication. Parked the car and looked under the gbox and sure enough there was decent amount of oil dripping.

Hope this helps as i understand its common with the fd but this is the first time it's happened to me.

For those interested ;

There are 3 seals that need changing.
1.Large Oil Seal PN 27436
2.Small Oil Seal
3. Flywheel Oil Seal (while you're there also change out your counter balance o ring)
