It took awhile, but we can now proudly say that we have a supercar to call our own (sort of, anyway!). Lamborghini Kuala Lumpur (made up of Eminent Century Sdn Bhd, the official importer for Lamborghini cars, and JH Italia Sdn Bhd) announced today a unique V10 model exclusive for the Malaysian market - the Lamborghini Gallardo MLE (Malaysia Limited Edition).

The MLE is based upon a Gallardo LP550-2 and retains the raucous 5.2L V10 that produces 550PS and 540Nm. This power is transferred to the rear wheels via 6-speed E-gear transmission. While internals remain the same, it is on the outside where you will see a significant changes. Zerotohundred remains at 3.9 seconds whilst top speed is maintained at 320km/h. Numbers that are difficult to be scoffed at, indeed.

In summary, this is a LP550-2 with a Superleggera bodykit - restyled front bumper, carbon side skirts, titanium exhaust tips and a carbon-fibre rear diffuser. It also sports matte side-mirrors and 19-inch Apollo alloys (taken from the LP560). This is a result of a year-long collaboration between Lamborghini Kuala Lumpur and the principal, Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. and is testament to Automobili Lamborghini's commitment to the Malaysian market and its Malaysian importer and dealer.

What we have here then is a pretty complete supercar: visually assaulting exterior, interior comforts from a standard Gallardo, and a visceral driving experience. Perfect. I know some of the readers out there might be lamenting the lack of glass engine cover and rear wing, but fret not - these are optional extras and can be spec'd to the base Gallardo MLE. My personal opinion is that this car could do with some extra stripery on its sides.

Unlike the (very similar in concept) Gallardo SLE (Singapore Limited Edition) that was available in only black or white, the MLE will be available in three colours, Bianco Monocerus (solid white), Verde Ithaca (pearl green) and Arancio Borealis (pearl orange), with a starting price of RM868,000 before duties, road tax and insurance with an on-road price (without insurance) of RM1,680,000. A 3 years factory warranty comes as standard. Only 20 units of this limited edition Gallardo will be made and I've been told that 6 have already been accounted for at time of launch.

nothing has change!!!...just sticker on it. Lamborghini marketing planner are braindead. facelift a gallardo, make it limited edition, no!...MAKE IT COUNTRIES LIMITED EDITION, the patriotic richarse would buy. LOL.

Actually; the truth is that there have been a few customers who prefer the visual outlooks of a Superleggera but cannot live with the lack of comfort inside. Bear in mind that the SLE uses the same concept as well. But in some ways, you're right - they could have spent a bit more effort customizing the car (decals, etc).

Or make the colour base on malaysia flag, like the tri-colour... then its really rare...

Special edition Lambo for a country that just announce minimum wage of RM900 or RM800 depending where you are. Wonder if these cars can sell that well here if our country is not so corrupted.... Hhhhmmm......

All that effort (sure nice car; don't get the wrong idea) to make a special limited edition for the M'sian market and there's not a clue of what that 'M' in the 'MLE' stands for, nor does it say 'Malaysia' anywhere - or better yet have a small fancy M'sian flag somewhere on the vehicle.

Take the Singapore LE for example..

:listen:Well... 'Some Malaysian' dared to ask for 1 Billion US Dollars just to meet him... No wonder we can see Lamborghini's commitment to the Malaysian market

negara mana tak corrupt bang? everywheres the same. no political thingy here please. tq

I too agree; it would have been a little bit more relevant if they had used Malaysian colours (red/blue/yellow) to truly signify the MLE. If anyone would like to try their hands at designing decals that fir the MLE, please share it with us here on this thread! ;)

How is it On The Road (OTR) without the road tax & insurance?
hahaha :rofl::rofl::rofl:

Btw; all manufacturers quote prices of their cars OTR this way because insured values/premiums, etc can differ from car to car.

just same like balboni, why they said MLE pulak???
sg people already drive it so long lolx~

i tink it doesnt matter pun if sg people have same specs. its the MLE. the plate of MLE itself already makes it different from others. and only 20 rich people can own this. thats the diff. plus its not a recond. its new and MLE.

eg: anyone can put any plate. gold plated or anything. but its not original maaa. this 20 units originally from lambor. they launched it. and they claim its special edition for malaysia.plus IF i got money. i don mind buying. after all, i own a new MLE and i know another 19 people owns it. not 1900 people. 19 other people own it.

just my long two cents. :)
