Front Wind Screen Suddenly Broke

last saturday, my windscreen suddenly broke. not sure about the temperature difference but it 10:00pm, window down, no aircon, not flying stone whatever..

clean the debris about an hour, (luckily had construction glove on my boot but still some cuts here and there..), went to fren's house at 11:00pm to borrow his vacuum cleaner, then can't go home coz no shaded parking (if hujan, my car can be aquarium). park the car at office, sleep there, wait until morning to start looking for windshield. to my dismay, it's sunday!! luckily this 1 particular sparepart shop open and had my model in stock.

when i had reached my mech shop, i told my mech bout this incident n he said it was the hot weather at the external n cold in the interior cuz it broke.... https://www.zerotohundred.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif alt='blink.gif' /> but i really blur bout it.... i was doubt about maybe some small rock cuz it but i n my mech didnt found any evidence that cuz by rocks.... sigh....

if u open up ur window for a smoke then after smoke on the air-con 1st don direct close ur window..this bcoz heat and pressure..

nope. i didnt smoke. like what i had mention,while i was drivin at the hot weather n listenin music, the wind screen suddenly broke. but the point is i didnt row down the window durin the journey....maybe was the air con prob... cuz that day i switch on the almost highiest level of the air con ;) ....

in this kind of situation where the windshield shatter or break due to heat and not accident , can we claim on insurans? Anyone have done tried to claim insurans?

i had tried to phone the insurans n they said as long u hav buy ur wind screen insur u hav the right to claim :)

I changed to laminated windscreen after taht.

did it including labour charges was rm460.

There is insurance for windscreen shatter. You pay a premium of like RM50 per year or something like that.

Anyways, those windscreen that shatters in a unique fashion is what you call tampered glass. When a small stone hits this kinda glass, a small crack will result in a gradual cracking of the whole glass and therefore you see the unique pattern. Benefit is, it won't shatter like those normal glass on windows whereby when a stone hits it, it will crack and the sharp glass will fall all over.

one thing happend same to me...
morning start engine on aircond straight go...
then drove no more than 4km the screen is liek ...pooook!!!
cracked the front windscreen...
so the moral of the story is...
dont on the aircond as soon as u drive when inside the car is damn hot!!!
instead open the window a bit to let the inside air and outside air pressure balance...
so far ok ler...touch wood!!!if u say the windscreen has life period...i doubt it...my car was used for 14 years before it cracked...how do u explain that???

I just thought of this question. For those who have shattered windscreen like

I was wondering whether a tint film would help to "absorb" some shock cos tint films are somewhat "thicker" in that sense. My car is 11 years old and so far, my front wind screen is holding on. My right rear window of my satria shatter after closing the door once, though.

this is told by my mech he said no need to buy the insurance ony buy after ur screen broke then ony buy the insurance then the mech open a resit after the date u buy the insurance (meaning that the screen broke after u buy the insurance) so u can claim and no need to pay yearly

Thats probably one of the tricks to save a bit. When i renewed my car insurance, the guy asked me if i want to insure my windscreen, so i just yes and he did everything for me.
