All competitors in the this year's edition of the Sepang 1,000 Kilometer endurance race (S1K) and the Malaysian Super Series (MSS) will once again be competiting on Federal Competition tyres after the receiving commendable feedback from last year.

“I am proud to announce that Key Vector Sdn Bhd, the importer of Federal Competition Tyres, will be Sepang’s appointed control tire supplier to the 2011 Sepang MSS 1600cc / 1800cc and the S1K events with the Federal FZ201 195/50-15 semi slick tyres. We are very happy with the services provided by Key Vector and the competing teams were happy with the performance of the tyres. Hence, it’s only rationale for us to continue this partnership for 2011,” said Sepang International Circuit Chief Executive Officer Datuk Ahmad Razlan Ahmad Razali.

“We are honoured to be working again with Sepang International Circuit and to be appointed again as the control tyre supplier for the MSS and S1K," said Russel Palmer, a director with Key Vector.

“I am told that SIC did not receive a single complaint on the tyres last year from the competitors; and neither did we receive any complaint. And, for that, we are very pleased. We knew that we would be doing a good job for the drivers and teams as the key people behind Key Vector have been in motorsports in many years and simply understood their needs," added Palmer.

The 2011 MSS season kicks off with a combination of car and bike races on 21 and 22 May before a further four rounds for cars and an additional four for bikes that includes a second joint round from 30 September to 2 October.

The S1K has been penned in for the 1-3 December weekend this year and will be entering its third edition while the MSS celebrates 10 years since its inception.

“They had their technical staff present on-site to assist us; and to give guidance and tips on getting the tyres to work to the fullest capability. These are really experienced people and their advice were simply spot on,” said Faizal Hassim, the runner up for the 2010 Supersixteen championship.
