EvoZ, I am very sorry to hear abt all the problems and hassles with your beloved baby.

Let me share with you my experience last time. I once got into similar situation when I owned an AE111. Quite 'heavily' modified and pretty fast for a 1.6 NA. I recalled I went to US for 3 months, so I left my AE111 in the workshop for a major repair. I thought when I am back, the car will be as good as new since I put in so much money.

But it didn't end there, repaired problems solved but new 'related' problems kept popping out. I was very pissed off with the mech. After 6 months enduring the problem, I cud no longer stand it and sold it off for a brand new car, a 1.6L auto (since I was thought my wife will be driving it).

That is when I started to miss my AE111 so badly. I did not get any statisfaction of driving the brand new 1.6L auto at all tho it's more comfortable but it's 'characteristic-less'. I dreamt and think of my AE111 for years... yes, no kidding.. until I got my 'wanted' car again, only I forget about it.

So bro, if you love your E7, don't give up so easily, I don't want you to regret like me... unless you're getting another bettter conditioned E7, or E8 or E9 or even E10. Good luck bro!

this thread is not to flame anyone - just to share my dilemma in car repair - its being wonderful owning an Evo but sad that my doctors not treating his patient well......until now i still have faith in my doctor to treat my sick car well....lets see

came back from gymkhana
- steering rack bush broke - changed - now ok

after that - twin plate worn out - changed- now ok

while changing, need to remove all front suspension - changed all oil seals

start car - check engine light on - was told my O2 sensor gone - ok accept with smile - what to do - wear & tear ma...cant argue (my fault)

car broke down 10km radius from workshop - forgot to tighten turbo inlet/vacum hose
managed to fixed myself by kesas highway - luckily no tragedy - if not wont be writing this..

asked him, was told they never removed the hose, but after checking with my fellow evo friend, i recalled they remove it to enable the tools to be in for releasing air from the clutch pump...then i told him, just kept quiet...(also my fault maybe)

mentioning about clutch pump - (my fault also) coz according to them, my clutch pump spoilt, need to change coz unable to pump after releasing air/pressure from the pump - keep pumping and pumping for 1 hr, hope my floor panel not broken, still no pressure, so they suggest to change pump! - after that i suggest maybe "they need to adjust on my clutch pedal so that it can pump better coz i recalled my previous mech adjusted it to make my twin plate release easier...then only problem solved...pump back to normal and clutch functioning well now....

went to do alignment, camber setting etc etc - took me 3 hours there....steering not align - half circle out of align. (also my fault) so i need to pay

changed all my 4 tires - coz worry - safety 1st - pocket kosong nvm, life more important

went back, 5 days later, noticed leaked from gear box, quite badly - sent to workshop - was told wrong oil seal coz sometimes it happens - so changed & top up gear oil

happily rode the car back - after few days - ACD lights on - all 3 lights - many comments & advice given - some said due to AYC (coz my AYC maybe got problem - didnt bleed it out properly last time), some told me due to ACD not properly fitted, some told me ACD oil wrongly fill up etc etc etc...i didnt take much advice coz i lazy to think.....just leave it, re-start the car, it comes back to normal - so until today ACD ok liao...lucky me!

on monday - after so many days didnt drive my car - reverse out and noticed leak again, same place, same spot, double check again on tuesday morning and certified - leak same place

sent to workshop again and was told my drive shaft came out by few mm, oh, very surprisingly coz never encounter such things, bit panic, keep calling the mech and later was told the drive shaft clip not strong....so need to change - change lor -....also ask to change my O2 sensor since faulty and irritating to see the engine light on - worry my fuel not properly read...worry too lean or too rich ....might damage the engine...so change lor.

seek their help to trouble shoot whenever reverse got some grinding sound, they conclude my reverse gear got problem....gear box got problem etc etc...i already panicky for many times so i took it calmly...as long as it works i still ok....maybe later i seek 2nd opinion before changing a good & functioning gear box away...hehehee:)

ask to keep the coolant coz just changed - (Motul) in jan2010, ok but later was told the coolant cannot use, coz some oil dripped into the container - the oil drip is due to my car - dunno where got drip - also like my fault....so what to do - drip already - kept quiet lor.......thinking whether to buy another bottle or not....later the kind mech replace some coolant - a normal brand i couldnt remember - i still dunno am i charged for the new coolant.....( my fault also)

then they filled up my air con gas - nicely done - my air con super cold now..thanks to them.

about to reach my friend's tire & service shop - for alignment again - my engine keep dying off...call him, say its normal, coz remove battery terminal, let the ecu read back then ok, so i agree and trying to hang on to the accelerator coz traffic jam, don wanna keep starting the car...kinda challenging task ler....(also my fault) coz previously told me already run in...coz his staff tested the car.

reached there, check engine light on - call to ask again - now say must erase code coz when leaving the workshop - the light not on...so i manage to erase the error code..thanks to my friend - but after testing the car for few round, the light came back...erase again, then after 2 round came back...so i give up...call the mech again and inform him....so now he said will inform the chop shop and replace it again....soon...(also my fault coz earlier told me no need erase code, battery terminal removed, auto reset already)...thanks for their kindness to save my money from MUTII....

so i guess my dilemma will be repeated again & again - process of arranging my car to workshop, seek my friend's help to send me back to kepong, later seek my friend's help to send me back to workshop - very far from my place....then waited few hours.....then go erase error code again....and come back.

just hope wont leak again coz 3rd time removing my drive shaft. i understand the scenario cant blame anyone - but i am sick & tired of sending my car in & out of workshop for minor things like these which i guess can be done at 1 go if its done with heart and concern.....

just wandering when is my next visit and what's new thing might happen to my car - maybe i should sell it off......no fate with this nice little evo....

i should thanks for their hardwork - but somehow my PROBLEM IS NOT SOLVE 1 time!...sad & tired coz i am very busy all the time.....

sigh.....just sharing my sickness....:banghead::banghead::banghead:

bro you sounds like you need a vacation away frm yur car lol

Hang on there bro... I've been through it before... Before sending the car everythin' okay... After come out, everythin' goes haywire...Still remember the fuel line clip issue..??? My advice to U is, don't think about it too much... Just switch to other garage... The more U think about it, the more frustrated U're...
Lancer Evorry : Do U think is fair if the owner have to pay due to the mistake done by the workshop..?? How about the owner's time, energy & money that's wasted along the process..??

Driving Evo is like that....U can ask whoever that own a evo that dun have any problem.
Workshop try to solve the problem for u, is not make more problem for u.
Can I know how much they charge u?
From EvolutionZ: i just hope the mech don charge me for clip la, oil la, wmanship la etc etc...
Then who want to open a Shop...Everything FOC?????

Even u drive a kancil also have problem....Buy new car lah, at least give u 3 year warranty.

are you trying to say if they charge cheaper, they don't have to bare the responsibilities on the damage made by the workshop?like i charge you RM50 to change the flywheel but i break your gearbox, how?

your charged less because you solve the problem with the economic way,not irresponsible way

i think EZ's statement is regarding on the damage/mistake made by workshop, not asking for FOC service.

wahh damn scary wei...
you should try the kepong workshop la bro...
i need to do my service soon also..

mizu i will call you soon..so you can intro me okay hahah..

I think the workshop should be more responsible with the repair job that they carried out.... Talkin' about warranty, don't U think the said workshop should honour warranty if the problem surface after short period of time after repair..??? Like in this case, 10km radius after collectin' the car from the workshop....

Just switch to others reliable w/shop. If I can repair it, I will repair it by myself. Always send my car to reliable w/shop. Always change w/shop based on their expertise. But normally, I repair it by myself. Save maa....hehehe

guys,
before this tread continues to be an endless discussion.. lets calm down first... now evoz has a problem and he having some difficulties solving it and sharing his experience... so lets not say about money and how to own an evo..

SO COOL OFF!!! (this is a warning)

evoz,
sorry to hear about your ride and hopefully everything will be ok with your monster..
no workshop is perfect and sadly you got a bad apple while going through this experience..

i know the truth and full story on all sides.. (pasal i macam ibu tau.. always listen to all) HEHEHE
so for those who do not know full story pls stop assume and add oil, charcoal, tnt and etc on to this tread.. the only way to solve this is for owner to shop owner to solve it within them selves..

i also had bad experience with some mechs before... its a learning experience.. we all do..
what we do? we learn lah!!!

so guys... keep cool...

guys...

cool off.... before i call up one by one and smack all your heads... hehehehe..

Lancer Evorry : The topic is about one of our brother SHARIN' HIS EXPERIENCE... So, why wanna start flammin'...??? He's been through tough time & only he knows how it feels.... :driver::driver:
Mr. P : Good move to stop the thread from non-stop flammin'....:adore::adore:

somebody throw this twat a damp cloth on his fire

Regardless of what you drive paying $$$ for any car you own irregardless of an Evo or a Wish and to find out first hand on car breaking down in a highway is always a NO - NO in my book.

---------- Post added at 10:49 PM ---------- 6 hour anti-bump limit - Previous post was at 10:48 PM ----------

Lets hear the owner tell how much they charge? if $$$$$ still can't solve it then nothing to say lah.
If no time...dun sit Evo...maybe Proton give u less problem and save time.
MONEY...When can say is Waste or Worth?

EvoZ, sad to hear your story.....

Me too had a fair share of experience like what you mentioned the frustration, disappointment..feel like want to burn the car. I bought my car 2nd hand at Cheras, after that nightmare begins after owning it not long. Going in and out of the workshop several times a week....when 1 thing get fixed another problem pop up....didn't know who to turn to for repairs and fixing as there were only 1 workshop that know how to fix conti a few years back in Seremban...that time have to get my own hands dirty to patch up the problems and parts was not cheap and not easy to get have to go to few places to look for it, have to travel up and down KL several times to get the right stuff and some parts have no stock have to order from SG or overseas. Spend a lot of time on travelling, rectifying the problem & pin point the problem....until I find a rather OK workshop that can help me fix most of the problem and thanks to ZTH (no kidding) I get to know a few mechs and wire man that can fix my car when there's a problem...get to know some same make owners and got help from them which I really appreciate.

That's the price to pay for owning rare cars....but in the end when most of the problem get fix and when you drivethe car...you feel happy and worth while...because you know that a lot of effort and patience is put into the car that you love. Even now my car still got some minor problems but I'm happy that she's been serving me quite well all this years down the road despite the ocasional hipcups here and there....not bad for a 10 years old car....

EvoZ, all the best to you....see you again in the next TT.

i will disclose the workshop name openly in the forum and few other forum that i am active in if the problem still cant solve.....now i am still holding on to see what solution they can give me...will update whatever dialogue they give me...coz i don wanna spoil their rice bowl....
he is one of our forumer too......not very active one but still login in off & on...

Bro,

Professionally, i want to ask something from you, give US one solid reason why have you not CHANGE to another workshop NOW since you have LEARNED everything based on your post?

If you dont have one, then go figure, it's your hard earned money, love it bro, dont waste it on mutual understanding, no such thing nowadays in business, like Donald Trump used to said .. " It's nothing personal, it's just business". :smokin:

its sad when our beloved ride is in ICU or worse, problems coming out one after another. feel for u bro EvoZ..but don't give up...every problem has the solution. i am sure everyone here will support u.

i think its a good idea to create sticky thread to recommend good workshops to current n future owners.
