evo or subaru..

this question had been asked for 84383834563838 times in this forum right. heh.

but for me, id go for evo for maintainance wise. economy nowadays..haiyaa:smokin:

prefer subaru coz sound very nice and good looking inteior
but if i want to buy, evo is better according to the maitenance cost

just my opinion:listen:

for any cars, it's pointless to have a roaring sound but still lose to ur challenger on speed & driving skills hehehe..

my 5 cents.. :nurse:

i own both the evo X GSR and my05 wrx. based on my personal experience .i would pick the mitsubishi anyday .as monitored and compared , my fully stock subaru gave me about 8km/L on 60% highway drive and 40% city driving.but my evo with just the kakimoto exhaust and arc intake gives me close to 9.5km/L on the same basis .
i am not really a very technical person but given my experience on the road and also my butt feel , evo generally gives a nicer drive interms of handling with all the computer techs whereas the impreza gives you a more raw handling experience.so it all boils down to which you prefer.
and oh ya , if comparing stock and stock , the evo 8/9 is definately faster than the version 7/8/9 sti on straights and around the corners.evo comes with slightly bigger turbo as compared to the IHI vf series that subaru offers.given the fact that the evo engines are generally stronger than that of the subaru boxer , it is safer and easier to achieve bigger hp figures at a lower cost .and due to the engine placement of the subaru boxer , you will realize that they actually ultilize the top mounted intercooler setup instead of the fmic .changing to a bigger turbo and fmic setup with a impreza and you will experience the ultimate lagness cos of the intercooler piping setups.and by the time you get really fussy about it , here comes the reversed manifold setup which again , dials in more and more cost.both are great cars i would say , but personally i think the evo is cheaper to maintain on the long run and have better dollar to horsepower ratio .
just my 5cents worth.

bro agreed most of it, but i think evo or subaru owner usually doesnt concern about the fuel consumption coz this is the last they think about when owning a sports car. juz my 2cents

I've had the luxury of owning both an evo as well as a subaru, and i've personally feel that

A) both cars are just as heavy on fuel, my altis beats them hands down, but these cars are not meant to skimp on fuel, moving on,

B) both cars are just as cheap / expensive to maintain. while the AWD/4WD are awesome in terms of grip, it also means you have an extra shaft, extra gearbox to fail, etc, once those sets in after a hard drive or track day, then.... my current RX-8 could beat these 2 in terms of fuel and maintenance, but not in outright speed.

C) owning either would be a great experience ( to me at least) and i'd 100% recommend either one to whomever.

and finally, i personally like the evo's seats better than the subaru STi's seats, but i have a large bottom and wide belly, so...

YMMV,

Edit: the quick reply is a bit wonky, i pressed once and it auto bumps creating double postings.

i do admire:adore: scoobys..but..the maintanance its a bit high compared to the evos..power is basicly almost the same...its a BIG dilemma huh?:banghead::banghead:

Fuel consumption wise, I think Subaru is much more thirst than an evo cos my brother drives a standard subaru impreza. He always complaining about it. I also remembered a tv show (fifth gear) that compares both cars on every side & he concluded that if you should own a subaru..... think of the thirst man...

For me, scooby looks better but as others have mentioned, scooby's FC is worse than EVO..so it's still up to you..go test drive both and you'll know which is the suitable one for you.

on the exterior, both cars look great.but for me,the scooby dashboard looks dull.

I had the opportunity to ride shotgun in a S204 and it feels quite... okay. The bucket seats are obviously not for comfort as it feels tight even for somebody like me who has a 30cm waistline. The boxer engine note seems lost in version 9s, even after replacement of the exhaust system to an aftermarket system.

It's a cool car though. But I think the Evo is a better driver's car, it does 'feel' more robust and 'willing' to take some punishings. I can remember reading a magazine article about Rally X which said that Imprezas are better for jumps because the boxer engine has a lower centre of gravity, but that's for jumping.

Anyway, if you've made up your mind on purchasing an Evo 7, do give some consideration for Evo 8 coz for me it looks better and it has the MIVEC head.

The Japs have a Hypermeet for Evos and Imprezas at Tsukuba, if I'm not mistaken it's held annually. Can check it out.
