what is the difference between 2/3/4 channel

basically audio system wil have min 2 channel.. used for 2 speaker.. then if have 4 channel, can be use for 4 or 3 or 2 speaker.. in 1 set wil have 2 channel.. normally for 4 channel wil use 4 speaker.. but also can use for 3 speaker (1 subwoofer n 2 mid/tweeter).. the 1 subwoofer joined by bridge + and - of 2 channel... bridge wil produce more powerful sound..
