Aluminium Radiator - Upgrading

Altough the original radiator top tank is plastic fibre, but the cooling is very efficient. I just read 1 oversea mag, skyline 600hp still retain original cooling system. Just add oil cooler for hard driving purpose.

With our nice & cool weather over here in Malaysia, Don't think the ori radiator gonna last long.....:bawling: :bawling: :bawling:

Then again, why change something when it still works .... I guess if it's breaks, or not doing it's job then it's time to change wor ... :listen:

Having duel, or triple cores (especially) puts more load on the pump instead ...

Ditto!

And if there's extra cash just buy and keep in case of... FUBAR!

I don't mind eyong's 'ARC'!! :rofl::rofl:

Careful when buying none branded radiator. sometimes the fin is too close causing restriction instead of gud flows.

Unless you are getting Eyong "ARC" then you gonna be worried about "restriction" and not getting a good flow out that you want!! :slug:

They sound HOT!! Radiators are supposed to be cooling.

Yeah, that are a cooling device to absorb and discharge heat ... That's why they are HOT, and you as the engine, get cooler .... You follow, hehe

Go Alice, Rachel and Cindy ... Cool me down, baby ....

Ah... si, si, comprende!

hahaha ... alice rachel & cindy ... u all ahhh ... thaught we are discussing abt aftermarket rads

by the way, i really love to have the ARC ... but the price for the brand new is damn scary

will most probaby go for the 2-layer 53mm koyorad ... which is very affordable and easily accessible here

by the way, my set-up already have HKS oir cooler kit but whenever im running >200kmph ... the oil temp seems to creep up pretty fast

guess need to beef up the rad :wavey:

Bump: kaminari ...

a friend of mine told me that there are still small amount of koyorad produced in japan ... im not sure how true it is?

do u have any idea:confused:

Actually, correct me if I am wrong ... Have anyone ever thought those blady huge intercooler, especially those triple cores might obscure much of the flow from passing thru the radiator properly :listen:

Much cooling problem could be solved by placing the cores in alignment with each other, ie. radiator, a/c condensor, oil-cooler and intercooler, and having proper air-flow. I have noticed, especially these days, people tend to mount their intercooler slightly tilted (facing) dowm to accomodate for the size, and lansi-ness ...

ARC's price is way too steep and I learned something new from veteran Rb120y today. You've got a point there with the T-Rex Intercooler obscuring the radiator. If I'm not mistaken, they do sell aftermarket radiator water spray. Could this be the solution to the problem?

And Jahax mentioned his HKS oil cooler would not suffice for the 200km/h mark. Now, I'm contemplating if I should get one or do I need other cooling parts to go with it.

Well, if you look at oem design, in general, most radiator cores/heat exchangers (includes a/c, oil cooler, intercooler etc) are placed sandwiched close to one another. This basically force air thru one after the next. And usually, on the sides of the radiators (especially between rad and a/c), they would seal it with some sponge or foam. Basically, we want to force air thru the fins, and not allowing air to lose off the sides between two radiators.

I know intercooler are hard to achieve that, but tilting the intercooler means changing that flow direction after the i/c. Air, may, or may not all passes into, and thru the rad from there. That's why we install those mega expansive air diversion plate which directs air flow into the radiator. Would not make much difference if someone is game enough to use a cardboard either

Best is to create plates or box after the i/c, and ducts directly to the next rad. Then again, most would opt for bigger water-pumps, oil-coolers, Nismo thermostats and some even added extra electric blower fans in front of oil coolers

Bigger intercooler core alwys best to get cool air to intake manifold but due to the design, it will obscure the flow of the wind to cool down the radiator. GTR original clutch fan wont be enough to suck the air to cool it down and will fail prematurely. Another alternative is to fit additional fan. But will it draw more current from the alternator.

For me, upgrade the oil cooler, thermostat, and water pump. If you still using plastic top tank, avoid using 1.3bar cap!

eyong ...

i also have ARC air diversion plate installed ... changed to 68 degree SARD thermostat ...

guess also need to upgrade the oil and water pump after upgrading the rad ... hemmmm

contemplating of using electric fan also ...

Bump: reintel ...

that was the mistake that i made last time ... using 1.3bar nismo cap on my oem rad ... and the result was that on one hot night, i saw my rad squirt like a horny ass ... over excitedly overboost ... kakakaka
