i spend half a sunday once a year doing this. But then again i only use my a/c in summer. In winter it rarely gets triggered.

That will work if the magnetic clutch is weak.....

I have replaced the bearing and mod the clutch to close the gap.
no shim kit available for sale here.
The compressor itself spins freely and only slight freeplay is felt so i think its good for few more years.

weird thing is when i start the engine,there is a whining sound.
the sound is there even when the aircond is off.and no the clutch is not dragging when the aricond is off.
it sounded like a supercharger whine.
i also replace an idler pulley so will swap it back to the old pulley and see if the sound is there.

the aircond works fine and the most noticeable different is the clutch kick in is verh quiet.maybe the gap is smaller than before.

Its a butch diy job and if its work then lucky me.
Will test it properly next week.

I will replace the pulley tomorrow.
