i am researching a bit about serena mpv. my wife likes mpv and there are only 2 2nd hand mpv that are within my budget.

unser and serena.

anyone knows which is better in terms of fuel consumption?

thanks

Philip - Pls forget about getting an UNSER. Very high fuel consumption! Period. Serena? You'll love it!

HOw is your Resort ?

Thanks again ANDY_RESORT. I still love ad resort. however, my wife is interested in something bigger for the family.

so here i am, trying to narrow down the few mpvs running available. actually, i even considered rusa to be honest. i miss those good old days, when a simple venette with nice decorative curtains inside would have been enough for one's vehicle to have that family feelings.

now, with the emergence of mpv, those vans become out of fashion and they look more and more like as if they can only be used for pasar malam.

but, it looks like the idea of mpv is also at its very young stage. I mean there is still a lot of room for improvements. i look forward to the time when someone can build mpv that is be more affordable , more economical in terms of fuel consumption, more pick up power, and more comfortable. I won't be surprise if Nissan can be the one to come out with such mpvs. i can see kia's naza ria is at the moment working very aggressively to compete in the mpv's market. but with the kinds of mpv's they are producing, it looks like only those who are wealthy can enjoy these vehicles. even when the price comes down it will still be difficult to get one because of high petrol consumption and maintainence.

thanks for confirming my suspicion about unsers. please do share as objectively as possible. whether it is based on actual personal experiences or experiences of friends, it is ok. it is also ok to share opinion based on technical facts.

Even if i do decide on another vehicle other than ad resort, i want the gang in the ad club to know that i have great admiration for the stationwagon spirit. whenever i see an ad resort passing by, i will always stare at it and admire its beauty. I like to encourage everyone of you to keep the spirit of ad wagon going!

Philip, u are one great guy i must say! Very responsible, understanding and COOL!

U are representing the rest of the people in M'sia whose also thinks the same way as you. I am actually a serious fan of vans, MPVs and anything that when you sit in it, you will feel like on top of the world! In fact, my next project (if my finances are stable) will be to get a van, preferably a Serena (old or new) and modify it like in Japan. Just the bodykit will make anyone to drop their jaws! Such amazing creation really is my admiration.

I've heard lots of remarks about the Unser and its fuel consumption. THe maintenance is also too costly. Might as well get the older versions of Serena with easy maintenance. Tan Chong doesnt cut-throat at all. I was kinda surprised when I sent my Resort to them for carburator tuning. They really did a great job minus the slaughtering! At least there is assurance that goes along with afforability for any Nissan cars.

Thanks for supporting the Resorts! Up till now, I am not giving up beautifying it although its a 10 yrs old car. I do alot of travelling in it and sometimes thought of getting a new car (must be a Nissan!) but heck, the Resort is my all-time admiration !

Come to think of it, of all the wagons avaiable here in Msia, the Resort is the best - durable, fuel-economy and easy maintenance! ;)
