Hi All,

Anyone have their hand on 3G? Which is the best in Klang valley? Celcom or Maxis?

Thanks

They are almost equal in terms of network quality but Celcom have the biggest coverage covering Penang,Klang Valley,Melaka & JB.
Another factor to consider is the services/product they offered under their 3G svc.
But if you're asking for my personal references, i'll choose celcom over maxis.

i think 3G will fail in Malaysia. I m not sure abt the price but i believe is beyond the reach of average joe like me in Malaysia. like waps

If the players don't make their services cheaper and more accessible by more people, I can't see them making a big penetration into the market.

Even something like broadband isn't as far and wide reaching as it should be.

if u ask me... i would say maxis 3G for the time being is such a waste of time.... not only the coverage is not wide, the signal is poor. Once u get into any complex or building with complicated structure... u loose 3G signal.. u only get GPRS.

i tried 3G wireless as well, on the laptop.. adoi.. samething..

so, gotta give it a time for them to expand the coverage and signal strength, then i believe it will be ok. But as for now... forget it.

i gave up maxis 3G after 2 weeks.. returned it to maxis.

zephy, thanks for the input.

Aren't maxis suppose to auto switch to EDGE before GPRS?

any celcom 3G user here?

i don't know.. it went straight to GPRS.

Maxis was trying to sell their corporate solution to my company.. so they passed us a 3G package for us to try it out.

bah.. i spend most of it to download bittorents. hahahaha... speed is so so nia... and like i said.. inconsistent signal strenght.. depending on coverage...

zephy, enough for hamsap bittorent video download! hahaha.
too bad Digi not interested with 3G, the price of major telco will stay unless Digi comes in and create big price slash.

bad for cosumer like us

i am using 3G in HK..the package is abt RM$100/m with unlimited news broadcast and 1500minutes talk time.

main reason i use it is becoz i like to watch the news including CNN and local HK TV news channel. there are plenty of music video , games and songs to down load.

But the 3G phone are quite bulky.....

Digi basically got screwed out of getting a piece of the 3G action. You know who to thank.

im using maxis 3g. For video call the rate is the same as voice call. So it's not that expensive. For internet surfing im not sure bout the rate. I think the service is not that expensive, but actually the 3g phone is. The 3g starter pack for maxis also quite cheap

invisibleghost,
links is the mobile phone kaki in HK. He use every single phone available in the market.

si|verfish,
