If you constant rev your car, engine oil is a must.
Same goes to AT Cooler if you are driving an AT.
I have actually read it somewhere that it is impossible to overcool an AT with the AT cooler just a few weeks ago. Before I always condemn installing one if you don't drive it spiritedly.
No need engine oil cooler is driving NA.

yes my 660 is auto, stock car oni even have to install tachometer for it, it's engine temp la, for eo & atf temp meter will have to wait coz planning either jb-jl @ ej-de (most likely this is favoured more).it's been a while haven't post anything so just trying to make a joke for the big guns to laugh at & maybe sum good answers too.

historically in all my ATs, overfills = sluggish performance. Under fill and the gears slip.
Engine oil overfill also not good mah!.....:smokin:

Stupidcar, is that the breather? It has to be sealed with a one way valve cap. The preve has a new issue where the cap disappears or isn't put back, then when rain or driving over a flooded area the gb inhales inadvertently sacking in water. Water plus atf = bad

BTW other type of cars have a very long breather hose that goes all the way to near the air box. So prevents water seepage

The picture above is basically the water/oil ATF cooler that comes stock with some of the older Nissan Sylphy / Teana cars. Basically the ATF flows in a U-shape within the canister and at the same time water flows outside to cool the ATF, water is courtesy of the coolant.

There are 2 types of coolers out in the market, stacked fin coolers and tube coolers (specifically Permacool since this is their trademarked technology).

(Generic stacked fin cooler)

(Permacool tube/fin cooler)

I'm contemplating installing an aftermarket ATF cooler but I have a few questions of concern.

1. The ATF oil flow is fast since the resistance is minimal. Prior to the canister is a paper filter so that already slows down the flow quite a lot. If I put either one of these aftermarket coolers, it will definitely slow down the flow of ATF. Will this be a problem in terms of gearbox performance?

Help?
Was studying the two types of cooler. The stack type has flat tube but all tubes are linked from left to right, means all passable.
The other tube one is one tube only, and needs to travel left, right, left, right, before coming out.
Tube will have better flow but only one tube. Stack flat type will be slower flow but there are multiple flat tubes.....:smokin:

Supposedly stock cooling system are made to make the gearbox works in its optimum condition in normal driving condition rite. In this case TS wants the gb works in its best condition wit his driving style. So if he cools the ATF too fast will it not effect the GB performance when in normal driving mod. For the cooler type, besides design are there any other things that may restrict ATF flow e.g the pump??

TS car gb quite sensitive. High speed for a period of time and it went in safe mode. My friend had the same car and he is aggressive driver meaning a lot of high revs in town driving and also it went to safe mode, so adding a cooler for this particular car seems like a good move....
The first batch of LGT also seems to have problem. Cannot reach Genting, as half way went into safe mode also. Seems later batch all have atf cooler...
