Winning the 24 Hours of Nurburgring is a big deal, especially when you are using a brand new car that has yet to experience the punishing environment of the Green Hell. Last year, Audi took the win at the race with their all-new R8 LMS and with the 2016 Nurburgring 24 Hours being just around the corner, it probably is the perfect timing to celebrate the achievement.
Instead of taking the new R8 and only dressing it up with fancy liveries, Audi has far better plans than that. They actually had gone with the recipe of taking their most exclusive version of their most powerful road car and fitting in 50-percent of the LMS components into it. Do we get your attention now?
The R8 “Selection 24H” will be built in a limited run of 24 units and each of them will be fitted with dynamic steering, adaptive damper control, magnetic ride and laser lighting. On the power department, customers will still get the 5.2-liter V10 engine pushing out 601-horsepower which is more than enough to propel the R8 from zerotohundred in 3.2 seconds and to a top speed of 330km/h.
To make this Selection 24 unique, this special R8 is given a tricolor paint finish where Suzuka grey is used as the base colour with Mythos black and Misano red highlights, reminding of us the R8 LMS. It also received a gloss carbon fiber front spoiler, rear wing, diffuser and side mirror caps. The sideblades are given a matte-finish “R8 24H” logo and the tailpipes are finished in black.
On the inside, the interior is bathed in full-leather upholstery and trim in rotor grey colour, as well as Alcantara headlining, carbon fiber reinforced plastic air vents and extended inlays for the surrounding of the Audi Virtual Cockpit. The new R8 Selection 24 will make its debut in the paddock at the 24 Hours Nurburgring. Orders can already be placed by today with a starting price of USD 261,000 (RM 1,052,860).
