Before entering the electric car business, Henrik Fisker was a car designer. To some, his name might not be ringing any bells, but he was responsible in designing some of the most gorgeous cars we have ever seen on the roads like the BMW Z8, Aston Martin V8 Vantage and even the DB9. So when Fisker decided to give the new Vanquish a little makeover, it sure will be turning into something interesting.

The Danish designer who also owns his own design firm called HF Design had come up with his own interpretation of the British supercar. Designated the “Thunderbolt”, this new concept car was unveiled by Fisker at the 2015 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, and described the car as a “powerful GT coupe”.

The Thunderbolt’s body is made almost completely out of carbon fiber, with the assistance of concept car builder GFMI Metalcrafters of Fountain Valley, California. If the Thunderbolt is given a green light for production, GFMI is likely to be responsible for the body while Galpin Auto Sports who is headed by Beau Boeckmann will be in charge of the performance and interior upgrades.

Aside from the unique hood and sharp taillights, the Thunderbolt is easily distinguishable from the Vanquish through its new grille design and headlights as well. Fitted with 21-inch alloy-wheels, the drivetrain however remains the same as you will still get 568-horsepower from the 6.0-liter V12 linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The inside of the Thunderbolt is also as dramatic as the exterior as it gets the world’s first application of Panasonic’s 11.6-inch ‘Curved Control Screen’, designed in a way to reduce glare. The interior is bathed in premium leather from furniture brand Natuzzi, a chronograph clock from Swiss watchmaker Maurice Lacroix, and not to forget the special bottle holder to place champagne or wine.

“I wanted to create an elegant beautiful GT sports coupe, with pure emotional sculpture, that would stay timeless,” said Fisker on the design. Would you agree with him?
