RS-Collectif Boys Flexing their Muscles at TC Eurocars’ 9th Track Day!

We were invited by TC Eurocars last Saturday to experience what they have arranged for their current RS model customers in Sepang. A RenaultSport Track Day, where the owners and avid drivers can unleash the full potential of their ‘pocket rocket’ on the circuit. This is not a first for TC Eurocars, rather since the launch of the Megane RS250 in Malaysia in 2010; this track day held on the 30th March 2013 is the 9th track day, specially organised for the RS Collectif boys.

Over 30 cars and owners turned up at Sepang International Circuit to enjoy themselves, alongside, the Lotus Club that were also invited this round to join the RS Collectif boys for a day of motorsports fun. It was an absolute joy to watch the Lotus and Renaults collaborating, understanding that these cars are EQUALLY ‘at-home’ on the circuit. The closed surrounding of SIC also induces the driver’s confidence to push to the limit, in a safe environment.

Other than the owners enjoying their cars on the track, Renault also offered a track experience for the visitors in the Megane RS250. Simply register yourself and get a taxi ride with a professional driver around Sepang to feel and experience the 247 horses, Turbocharged 2.0 front wheel drive track monster around the challenging corners in SIC.

Taking note that the Megane RS250 has been acredited, one of the all time greats of front wheel drive performance machine, we went for a couple of hot laps around the circuit and immediately reminiscence the first time we drove the RS250 on the road. As fun and subtle as it was on the road, when driven on the circuit, the RS250 was a rather contrasting experience.

With the sound of tortured tyres in the surrounding, we head out and quickly understood why the owners appreciated such organised track days for their RS cars. It’s the sort of machine that really inspires the driver but not terrifying to handle. It was an enjoyable experience and a few laps and faded brakes later, our stint was done and only left us the excitement for another go around the circuit in the car.

Amongst other things arranged for the owners during the track day were pit crews to check their cars and tyres during the RS track day, giving the owners a peace of mind about their cars while enjoying themselves on track. There were refreshments like Nasi Lemak prepared and served for all participants and guest to enjoy as well.

Some of the owners made it a weekend family event, bringing their wives and children over to SIC to enjoy what Renault has organised. A few of the drivers even took a warm up lap in the racing simulator that was made available, to remind themselves, before kicking into gear and heading out on the circuit. It was also there for everyone to try out and enjoy Sepang virtually at the same time. We personally found the simulator a lot more demanding than the RS250 drive on the circuit however.

All in all, it was a well-arranged event, filled with continuous smiles and happiness from the owners and participants. It’s not just a track day, but also an experience, be it for the participants or the visitors. For those who have missed this track day, not to worry as there is another one around the corner on the 27th April 2013. For RS owners who have not joined the RS Collectif, we urge you to join in the fun. There is another 4 track days planned for 2013 to not be missed.
