Aside from the GT-R Nismo getting all the attention from the press, Nissan had also launched an updated version of the GT-R at the Tokyo Motor Show. For the 2014 version, the GT-R is given a series of upgrades to refine the comfort, a fresher look and a more upscale interior.

Starting with the suspension, it has been fine-tuned to reduce load fluctuation between the four wheels, granting the GT-R better stability and more consistent grip. The shock-absorber valve’s electronic control has been optimized, and also modified the front stabilizer spring rates and bush link, giving the car an enhanced road-gripping ability. The new Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT 600 DSST CTT tires come as standard, reducing minute vibrations and road noise.

The brakes have been tinkered for a more firm and linear response during every day driving, allowing smooth braking more instinctive. The steering is also now easier to use during in-town commute.

On the outside, the 2014 GT-R now features new LED headlights with Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS). While we consider the dotted LEDs on the backlights as a distinctive GT-R feature, they have taken that away and replaced it with one that form coherent circles of illumination.

Nissan now includes a new colour code for the GT-R called the Gold Flake Red Pearl, where microscopic gold-tinted glass flakes are infused into the red paint. A carbon rear wing is available in the optional list, attached to a carbon trunk that weighs half than the standard lid.

The interior comes with a choice of three colour schemes including a new pale ivory trim option. Leather now wraps the steering wheel, and the cabin gets a better sound isolation from the outside even at high speeds, thanks to optimized insulation and acoustic tuning.

The 2014 GT-R will go on sale in Japan on December 2, while other parts of the world would have to wait until 2014 to get it.
