UK Satria GTI owner with some questions

but i think the gti handling is a lot better then the lancer.not to mention the chassis.

Bought the GSR for £2k GBP.

Decided today to keep the GTI and use the engine from the GSR. Selling the rest of the GSR to friends needing parts.

Good decision... How much is the cost to swap the motor?

Going to do it myself (with the help of an experienced friend or two) so it will cost nothing.

Have to wait untill my insurance renewal in May as my current insurer won't cover the GTI if it has a Turbo on it.

my friend done 6a12 TT in the wira ( same like wira/putra/staria)..... the upper intercooler pipe will hit the bonnet. the top speed are great , and great exhaust sound too. but the engine looks very very heavy.

I thought I would pop back and say hello and provide an update.

It had snowed the night before I did this so wasn't a warm day

Startted stripping the GSR. Had help from 2 friends. took off all the 'bolt on' body parts and had a good look at the wiring. Also removed boost piping, dash and basically the full interior.

Looks to be relatively straight forward for the engine wiring, but I fancy adding the climate controll so it might get complicated. I might just have to use the full interior wiring loom from the GSR.

Tomorrow will be taking the wheels and (possibly) the petrol tank out (if I can get some containers). Also going to remove the transfer box.

Day 2 (only 2 of us this time and only spent 1/2 the time we did on day 1) involved removing the wheels, shockers (pain in the arse), front drive shafts (pain in the arse), calipers and discs (not too bad) and getting the wiring I don't need out of the way (not my job so don't know how it went).

Also removed the front hubs (startd the rears but had to go in for tea) ready for anyone who wants to buy them. Any takers? Was a pretty slow day, but to be honest, it was hard going but worth it.

Day 3 involved removing the exhaust (that thing is HUGE, 3" (I think) one piece from the elbow, then dropped the rear transfer box (dropped this onto my finger ) out and took the rear driveshafts and the prop out. Then my m8 called over and we removed the gearbox. That was the most tedious job so far  . It took quite a while and tat thing is VERY heavy, anyhow, it is out now and ready for pickup. Also removed the rear windscreen today.

Both screens are out and unmarked Time consuming but better than cleaning glass up forever.

Back to work tomorrow so no not much more getting done this week. Got to go and see about a Sthil saw  and a pickup, to get the shell in bits out of the way once everything I need is off. I can then get some parts out of my downstairs wash room and back into the garage Will save my lass getting annoyed at me for cluttering up the house
